Low calorie alternatives to what?
Off the top of my head, the most common one I see is to use zucchini strips as noodles instead of pasta. People call them Zoodles. Or to use cauliflower to make "rice" instead of consuming regular white rice.
100 grams of pasta = about 350 calories
100 grams of zucchini = about 20 calories
100 grams of cauliflower = about 25 calories0 -
To add to above, I love spaghetti squash in place of pasta.1

Always: Greek yogurt dressings instead of regular creamy dressings (salad or coleslaw). Light mayo instead of regular mayo, light sour cream instead of regular.
Sometimes: Light Alfredo sauce (olive oil, cornstarch, milk, Greek yogurt, and less Parmesan cheese) instead of regular Alfredo sauce (butter, flour, heavy cream, lots of Parmesan cheese). Spaghetti squash instead of pasta.
That being said, NEVER get reduced-calorie cheese. It’s just bad. I would rather enjoy a smaller amount of wonderful cheese than choke through a larger amount of terrible cheese.5 -
Almond milk is a good alternative to cow's milk. I use it in oatmeal, pudding and smoothies. When mixed with other ingredients, I can't tell the difference between almond milk and skim.
I also recommend pasta zero type of noodles. They are very low cal and filling.

Same as above... Love almond milk.
Gave up cow's milk, when we started an elimination diet for Crohn's.
Tried to go back to cow's milk... Couldn't do it, it didn't taste as good as almond milk!0 -
Nooooooooo. I love milk too much to give it up lol. Good for everyone who has tho. That must take some serious strength.0
