I might be getting a dog that is 10 years old, over-weight, and for a long time has ate nothing but cooked chicken and rice. Does anyone know any ideas to how i might can change this dog's diet and get her to eating dogfood? The owner is no longer able to care for her & i would like to get her to eating regular dog food.

As said above, introduce a good quality dog food with the chicken and rice, and slowly transition to the dog food. Good quality dog food has a better nutritional balance, and def a better choice then chicken and rice.
Slow transition is a good idea to (hopefully) prevent gastrointestinal issues

when i do it, it takes about a week.
    day 1 rice and chicken
day 2 rice and dog food and chicken
day 3 rice and dog food
day 4 less rice more dog food
day 5 even less rice even more dog food
    day six dog food

if there is a day where it starts to cause distress-runny poos-i go back 1 day. if they don't want the dog food, you can wet it with warm water or chicken broth

it is also important to note that the new environment may also cause GI distress.
