That is so insane to me! Has ANYONE ever had that sort of loss? I'm currently at 18 lbs down and still wearing the same clothes that I was 18 lbs ago...they just fit a little different.

Has anyone had that sort of result?

That is fantastic!! This is my 4th venture on weight loss and I've never had such luck in losing the sizes, just the weight going down. My most effective was that I lost 40 lbs and 2 sizes
  • I lost about 25lbs and only went down one size. I lost a lot from my face first and my back so I didn't go down in clothes that quick. Everyone is different.

I've lost nearly 50 and only 2 pant sizes, first I noticed was at 25lbs down. I hold all my weight in my midsection, I hope it falls off soon! Great job on your loss!

i have lost 42lbs so far and have gone down one size but i can also still fit in the clothes i wore before i lost the weight. its really annoying because you think that you lose all that weight you shouldnt be able to wear the same clothea.

when i first lost my initial 40 pounds , i went from size 18 to 14 ad my workout consist of a lot of cardio and weight training. i think sometimes what happens, is that i gain muscle and it push fat forward . so i ended up not loosing a lot of inches. it takes time to go down in sizes, but it is sooo worth it , now i am trying to loose another 40 pounds :)

I've lost 15lbs & haven't went down one size. My pants are getting baggy though. When I started at a size 16 I was actually pretty close to not fitting in them anymore so that could be why.

On the plus side- no more muffin top!
  • i just did my weigh in and have lost 18 lbs in a month.......... i cant see the difference, but others say they can...... only difference i noticed is i got to hitch up my shorts more often LOL.. and my t shirts arent as snug.

lol... I think I went down 2 sizes by the 20lb mark.. however now (87lbs gone) I went from a size 24 jean to a size 12 jean. Inches vs Weight loss vs body type is what it is, I think...

I know that I crammed my booty in to my favorite jeans 30 lbs. heavier!!! (16 lbs. ago.) It was tough, and I tore the loops off, but I did it!! I was miserable and my outing was short, but I did manage. Every pound gets easier. I have bounced from a size 14 pants to a size 10 pants from 160lbs. to 193 lbs. and the size 14 was tight. Right now, I am probably in a size 12....at 177lbs. It is the summer so I wear a lot of shorts that are labeled "large" so I can only tell you that my size 10 levi's fit very tight ( my favorite jeans ) but like I said, every pound gets easier.

I am like you- I have lost 15 pounds and my dress size still hasn't changed. Although, my pants are crazy baggy, but I am just not 100% comfortable in the next size down yet.

I have lost 60lbs and I went from an 18 to a 8/10. I didn't buy any new clothes till I was a 12. I have a few 10's now but they are getting big. 8's are just a bit snug.... or at least the ones in my daughters closet are, but they are teenage clothes so I figured I could wear a normal 8.

For me, 10 lbs is usually a pants size. 38 lbs down and I've gone from a 16 to an 8 (and I can just... barely... squirm into a size 6 ).

For most women of average height, 14lb roughly translates to 1 dress size. Of course there are exceptions to this, but 5lb per size seems a tad unlikely.

The first weight I lost was around my hips, so it was natural for my pants to go down quickly. 20 pounds on a small frame is a ton. :(

I'm 20lbs down and stuck between sizes :-( My bigger clothes fall off when I walk without a belt, but tighter clothes don't fit yet...

For me, 25-30 pounds equals one pants size. Part is just the way my body is built and part is because I'm 5'10" and it takes longer to show on me.

I've gone from a 2x (18W) to a size 14 in regular women's clothes with just 11 pounds lost. I'm now buying mostly dresses to help me transition to smaller clothes because all the pants I bought when I fit a 16 are baggy in the back and need belts.

How did all of you go down 4 sizes by loosing 20 pounds?

I'm 5'6, I've lost 20pounds and my "fat" pants still fit. Granted they are looser and I need a belt, but I'm not down 4 sizes. Now I feel sad!! :(

    God bless!

I'm hesitant to judge by sizes, because they vary so wildly from manufacturer to manufacturer! Especially because here in Canada, we have Canadian sizes (which tend to run small for the number) and American sizes (which tend to run big). The pants/skirts in my closet that I can currently fit have labels that say anywhere from size 4 all the way to size 13.

I started dieting/exercise hardcore back on June 22nd (when I joined MFP). I weighed 201lbs (I' 5'7") and restricted to 1200 calories a day. I did Zumba 2-3 times a week, racquetball once a week ad weight training twice a week in the form of Kettlebell & Body Sculpt classes. I stuck with it and am now down 22lbs and 21" off my body all around. I was a size 18 (a little lose on me though so maybe a 17) and I now fit into a size 12 dress. I think the most important thing for me was the inches (5" off my stomach alone!) from all the weight training. It REALLY helped speed things up and get me down sizes. Not sure if youre combining strength training with cardio but I cant say enough about it...especially kettlebell! :) Dont give up and good luck!! :D

I've lost (altogether) 17lbs and went from a UK size 12 to now an 8-10, depending where I shop, which doesn't help :grumble:

I'm less than five feet tall and store weight around my hips, where my pantline is. When I started losing weight, that was where it was happening the most at first (I do a ton of pliés every other day). I used to wear an 8 when I was at 126, and bought some 2s yesterday, which are somewhat loose. I'm not sure how much more weight I can lose, since I'm 5 pounds from my goal. Trying to decide if I'm keeping or returning the pants. :/

Same size after losing 17 lbs, but they sure fit and feel better! I am sure that I will be able to wear the same size thru a 40lb loss. When they fall off, I will get a smaller pair. When I buy a smaller pair it, I want it to be a couple sizes smaller... Like maybe a 16 - I wear a 22 now. :drinker:

When I lost 20lbs I lost a pant size but not the shirt size. Now I am starting to lose it in my upper part and my top size is going down.
Just depends on what kind of exercising you are doing that affects that part of the body as well as how your body stores fat. Me I tend to be hip heavy.

Great work though. Just know that even if you can't see it in your sizes it is working and happening. One of the reasons why I am not looking at it as a diet but a better way of living life change.

It's really about starting weight and height. If you're starting off only 20 pounds overweight and lose 20, it's easier to lose several dress sizes, compared to a person 80 or 90 pounds overweight.

Like you, OP, I didn't lose a dress size with my first 20 or so pounds. Once I lost 40 pounds, I went from a size 20 to a 16. I'm now about 50 pounds lighter (haven't weighed myself at all this month) and can fit a 14.

I have lost 31lbs and gone down from a UK size 18 (i refused to buy anything this size, but all my 16's were pretty tight) to a size 12, so roughly 10lbs a size for me. I have 12lbs to go until my goal and hopefully that will mean losing one more dress size.
