Hey MFP! I'm going to buy a blender tomorrow & start making healthy smoothies. I heard alot of good reviews using non-fat Greek yogurt, flax seeds, almond milk & fruits..

Can anyone give me some delicious, healthy - filling smoothie recipes? And aren't super high in cals btw!! Thanks :)

    I don't even use yogurt in my smoothies... I use 1/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk.

    Here's my current favorite (2 servings)
    1 yellow peach (peeled)
    1 frozen banana
    4 medium strawberries
    1/2 cup raspberries
    1 cup papaya
    1/2 mango
    1/4 cup vanilla almond milk
    2 tblsp ground flax powder
    1 cup ice

    (feel free to add protein powder or what not)

    I also love this:
    1/2 mango
    1/4 cup almond milk
    1 frozen banana
    1/2 cup ice
    4 medium strawberries
    2 tblsp ground flax.

    Honestly, it's a smoothie, so any fruit (or veggies (like spinach)) that you love... mix em together and call it a day! It never hurts to try something new and experiment!

    my favourite smoothies are frozen berries, a banana, and fruit juice - but fruit juice has an OBSCENE amount of sugar so I've made some sacrifices :P I'll usually use light vanilla yogurt or skim milk to help it blend, which to me isn't as good but still tasty.

    the great thing about smoothies is you can hide all sorts of stuff in them! i hate veggies so this is my favourite part, lol. some things you might consider:

    flax seeds
    protein powder
    small, very strong cup of green tea
    any powdered supplements you take
    spinach
    carrots

    This is a Whole Foods Recipe:
    1 Frozen Banana
    2 Tablespoons Peanut Butter (sometimes I just add 1 to reduce calories)
    1 cup Milk ( I use Vanilla Almond Milk)

    I sometimes add Protein Powder and Flax Seed Oil for extra nutritional boost.

    Very Yummy!!!!

    basic and easy. My first smoothie I ever made:

    1 cup frozen unsweetened strawberries
    1 bannana
    3-6 oz Your chioce of yogert (amont based on how you like it -- i perfer 4 oz low fat vanilla)
    1 cup orange juice or almond milk. If you use almond milk it may need a sweetner added like honey or equal.
    Depending on what liquid you use about 350-400 cals

    Another I love and comes out purple:
    1 cup almond milk
    1- 1 1/4 cup frozen blueberries
    1 large or 2 small bannanas
    3-4 oz Your chioce of yogert
    a tiny bit of sweetner like equal or honey
    3-4 ice cub
    this i blend on high for about 4 min and it comes out nice and smoth and purple. Love the color
    About 350Cals If i remember correctly

    This one is my chocolate cravings. I got the idea from another MFP and changed it. has a tiny bit more cals
    1 cup almond milk
    1 cup frozen cherries
    2-3 tablespoons unsweet nestle coco
    1 bannana
    3-6 oz Your chioce of yogert (amont based on how you like it -- i perfer 4 oz low fat vanilla)
    1 tablespoon almond butter (optional)
    tiny bit of sweetner like equal or honey
    Sometimes I add a few ice cubes
    I believe its right over 450Cal

    Here is my low cal ice mocha for you too:
    1 cup almond milk
    1 packet diet hot chocolate (mine is nestle no fat 20 cal packs)
    2 tablespoons instant cappuccino mix (mine is hills bro double cappuccino, low cal) or you can use starbusks via, or any low cal option
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    Sweetner like equal or honey This one is great with equal.
    ice cubes, i start with 4 or 5 then sometimes throw in another for thicker
    Only 180 cals and super yum!

    ooooo totally forgot about chocolate.... here's my favorite chocolate one

    1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (20 cals)
    1 frozen medium banana (100 cals)
    1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder (20 cals)
    1-2 tablespoons peanut butter (I use unsalted creamy organic pb from trader joe's and it has no added sugar) ( 190 cals for 2 tablespoons-- you could try almond butter here too)
    2 tablespoons ground flax powder (70 cals)

    Of course the peanut butter adds a lot of cals, but if you're using this as a breakfast shake or something, it shouldn't be too bad. Plus the cals in nut butters a good for you, so I wouldn't worry too much. I get enough sweetness from the ripe frozen banana, but for some, added sweetness is needed. Also, smoothies eaten with a spoon are THAT much yummier. :P

    We love green smoothies, and they are simple, so very, very good for you, and did I mention that they taste good?

    Basic recipe:

    1 banana
    Big handful of dark green leafy (~ 2 cups?)
    1 cup frozen berries/fruit
    Enough filtered water to get it to blend (about 12-16 oz)

    So, one day it might be kale and blueberries, another day it's spinach and frozen pineapple. Frozen mango is great, too, with celery.

    One of our very favorites this time of year is really easy:

    Cut up some watermelon into cubes or chunkies
    fill the blender carafe about halfway with watermelon cubes.
    Stick some big kale leaves (you fold them, or bunch them into little blobs), or spread a nice bunch of parsley, in amongst the watermelon, not in one big clump, though.

    Run the blender until smooth.
