I retired my rope, will turn it into a rug when I have down time. Need to buy a new one. I've only ever had bi-pattern ropes, this time I'm considering a solid color with a black mark in the middle. I'm wondering if anybody in here has used both and has advice.
This is the rope in replacing, I liked it very much. Quick and easy to find the middle for a rappel. But the pattern change requires special braiding machinery and is expensive.

You may find more responses on Cascade Climbers forum. Personally, I prefer, 2 patterned ropes.1

I like my bi-pattern rope and will replace it with a similar rope when it's time. I've used both kinds (my friend has a solid rope), but prefer mine when I'm climbing in the alpine or doing multi-pitch.
As a total aside, Ithe North Cascades; it's one of my favorite places. I feel very lucky that I only live a couple of hours away.

Thanks for the thoughts, both of you! 🙂
I think you're both right.0
