Bad break ups and food

I recently was dumped by my boyfriend of 4 years, I got really depressed and started eating my emotions, which I know you aren’t suppose to do. Then about a month ago I realized I had gotten to 195 pounds. Now I’m down to 182 pounds, but still get really sad and eat things I’m not suppose to eat (sugary or high sodium). I guess I’m asking if anyone out there has had the same thing happen, or if someone is going through something similar to what I’m going through?

Isn't there even an ice cream flavour called "bad breakup"? You're definitely not alone!

I went from a size 12 to a size 6, then went from a size 6 to a size 14 after a breakup (and some depression). I ate ALL my feelings. What I would do differently now, is #1) Make those treats but healthier versions of them. And #2) Stay busy, find something new to do that keeps me interested. #3) Lean on my family and friends for support.

What I did do right (eventually) is I used exercise as one of things that kept me busy. And as I slimmed down, I began to find new exercises I loved.

I’m sorry you’re hurting. This won’t hurt forever. Hang in there ❤️

I lost my husband to ALS last year. I became an emotional overeater. On top of that, I was diagnosed with ptsd, anxiety and depression.

It took me over a year after his death to put on my big girl panties and tell myself I was worth this journey towards a healthier lifestyle.

Within two weeks of starting mfp, my anxiety and depression symptoms had lessened. You have a chance to change your life for the better. Grab that opportunity.

    Good luck!
