Just popping in to say HI. I am a mom of 4:) I've always struggled a little with my weight but last year when my baby was 3 mos old I got a call that really changed things. My mother died very suddenly from a ruptured cerebral aneurysm. It was totally unexpected. She was only 50 yrs old, beautiful, young and healthy. So I've really struggled the last 9 mos or so with grief as well as balancing a house full of kids, a job, husband and honestly nutrition and exercise have really been at the bottom of my priority list.
I'm hoping that by tracking for a while I can find some balance. Thanks.

HELLO, SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR LOSS! I TOO HAD A REALITY CHECK TO MAKE ME WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT. WITH SHORTNESS OF BREATH, HEAR PALPITATIONS, SLEEP APNEA AND OTHE MINOR ACHES AND PAINS DUE TO WEIGHT GAIN AND LACK OF EXERCISE I FEEL LIKE A TICKING TIME BOMB SOMEDAYS. I HAVE 6 CHILDREN (4 NATURAL AND 2 STEP) FROM THE AGES OF 12 YEARS TO 23 YEARS. I ALSO HAVE A 3 YR OLD GRANDSON AND A 17 MONTH OLD GRANDAUGHTER WITH A GRANDSON DUE IN NOV. SO I HAVE A HOUSE FULL TOO! MY HEALTH AND APPEARANCE LIKE MOST MOMS HAVE BEEN LAST ON THE LIST AS WELL. I THINK WE JUST GET IN A RUT AND ARE TIRED ALL OF THE TIME AND THINK ITS NOT IMPORTANT UNTIL ITS TOO LATE AND WE WAKE UP ONE DAY AND GO "HOW DID I LET MYSELF GET TO THIS POINT?" I HAVE ABOUT 70 POUNDS TO LOSE AND KNOW ITS NOT GONNA BE EASY BUT I GOTTA GET IT DONE. I WANT TO HAVE A FULLER,HEALTHIER AND HAPPIER LIFE WITH MY FAMILY AND THIS WEIGHT IS DENYING ME THAT. WEL I WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK IN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS AND WITH YOUR FAMILY!0

Hi and welcome to MFP, I am so sorry to hear about your Mum, there isn't a lot anyone can say or do to help you there though I wish there was. You will find lots of support here with MFP which is what you need when it comes to losing weight and the best thing to do is to be honest with yourself when doing your daily diary, you will be surprised at how some things have way more calories than expected and other times you will find there is less. If you have an iPhone or other sort of smart phone then download the MFP app as it is terrific and is linked with the MFP on your computer, you have your diary with you all the time if you have it on your phone and takes just a couple of mins to add to it that way you won't forget anything and also it has a barcode reader. If you cannot have MFP on your phone then take a note of what you eat throughout the day. I am sure you will do well
best wishes to you and your family0 -
