Calorie adjustment for exercise

I am not sure why the app deducted calories instead of adding a percent back.

Were you less active than normal? (that would, potentially, explain it)
Are you using an apple watch that is directly connected to MFP without using an intermediary app such as Pacer? (AFAIK, as of the summer of 2019, the direct integration between apple watch and MFP had frequent issues such as the one you're describing where activity gets deducted instead of added).0 -
Mine does that to, but then the next day it shows the exercise caleries as being added.0
