My friend introduced me to the site on Friday 8/26. I have been searching for a tool to help me track and I believe this is IT. I have been a WW'er off and on for the last 13 years. Well, more "off" than "on". Thirteen years ago, I went from 180 to 145. I had two kids and gained the weight back. I've tried to get back to 145 and never got closer than 160. Today I am at 184. My youngest just entered 4th grade today (!), I'm afraid I can't call it "baby fat" anymore!!
While I would never knock WW, I want to be more cognizant of the RDA requirements. I got so smart on WW I could play all sorts of games and stay in daily ranges. I want to know what foods are the most nutrious. In the 3 days that I've used MFP I notice a big lack in my potassium consumption. I've already done some research and am trying to add more potassium rich foods into my diet.
I am geeky and LOVE the app on my phone. The UPC scanner is beyond cool. It has my husband's interest, too. Though he tried to scan Windex with it!
I pray that this is IT for me. I am hyped right now, my geekiness is engaged. Please Lord help me stick to it!
SW - 185
CW - 184.4 (yes down 1.6 in 3 days -- probably water but i'm loving it)
GW - 150 (i'd say 145 but I'd love to see 150 again!)

I just started 3 days ago also and so far so good.
I read your post and thought "Wow, this person is describing me........minus the youngest child in 4th grade". My youngest is 30 and I recently became a first time Grandma. I have joined and rejoined WW many times starting in 1971 when I was in high school. I still think it is great but wanted something different. I love MFP so far. I like knowing the nutritional value of what I am eating, rather than the "point" value.
Good luck to both of us! If you would like to add me to your friends we could support each other and hopefully make it to our goal this time.0 -
Welcome to my Heart Healthy MFP world. Congratulations on taking that big step. I've been doing this program for the past 286 days and I guarantee that if you are faithful and work WITH the program, it works for you. I'll be sending you a message with my tips that created success for me because I would love for you to have resounding success. You're a WINNER and you WILL succeed.
I'm a lifetime Weight Watcher person and I probably won't go back to that except upon a rare occasion when I need a boost from the lecture. The WW leader I had in Tucson, Arizona, JoAnn Contorno, was an amazing lady. Every one of her classes was a hilarious comedy act and remarkable inspiration. The WW leaders here, for the most part, are "ho-hum" and "when's this class over" (Bellingham, Washington).

Add me to your friends list if you wish. I'm no expert but I've done the yo-yo dieting for over 55 years and this is the absolute end of that because I will continue accurately weighing/measuring portions/leveling off all excess quantities & logging every single item that goes in my mouth on MFP for as long as it exists. My heart, lungs and the rest of my love this better lifestyle.0 -
Welcome aboard. You have come to the right place. Feel free to add me as a friend, motivator and supporter. I try to motivate and support as much as possible, but some days are to busy for me to actually be able to. All I ask is, if you are one that uses foul language in your posts, then do not add me as a friend. I do not like to hear or read foul language.0
