Cutting sugar

I have been off MFP for about a month now and have fluctuated in weight but not done too badly. I'm getting back with the program to start monitoring my sugar intake. Any suggestions for cutting sugar from food without taking away everything I love?

Watch your yogurt. Some of the low fat versions have a ton of sugar.

Cold turkey. I was miserable for about two days but then the cravings were GONE entirely. Ultimately I just told myself... "would you rather eat that donut/chocolate/whatever? Or would you rather be healthy, happy, and gorgeous?". Guess which option won?? I don't eat any sugar now that isn't natural (such as from fruits).

Learn what a proper portions size is of the things you love, eating a proper portion, or half portion, will help quickly. Also spacing things out throughout the day so you dont find the need to binge, or a daily "treat". When your body feel deprived s when youre likely to binge.

I dont track my sugar because 90% of my sugar comes from fruit. I personally see it as a huge difference between natural and processed sugars. If you still want to track it you can always do your own math at the end of the day to see added/processed sugars VS natural sugars.

I use unsweetened almond milk in my protein shakes now instead of regular milk; that saves me some sugar. Berries are great as far as fruit goes; lower sugar than other fruits.

If you open up your diary, we can make suggestions based on what you like to eat.
  • Try a sugar substitute if you cook/bake for yourself. (Truvia/Stevia) And watch out for drinks with a lot of sugar - tea, soda, even fruit juices.

As far as my diary goes it would not be much help right now because I have not been tracking the last month. I think my big issues will be sodas and energy drinks. I'm not much into cakes and chocolates and all that stuff though with my boyfriends family having multiple birthdays in the last 2 weeks I have had a bit much cake. :D
