Making some changes!

Options
There is a LONG story as to how I have ended up here, but that will be for another day. It's time to make some changes. Thanks to MFP forums, I had the realization today that I had officially hit "obese" status. As if I weren't already motivated to shed some weight, that sealed the deal. I have never officially "dieted" before so this is a huge mental shift for me, but already losing some water weight which is helping my joint pain! Tuesday, 9/10/19, was when I officially started my focused effort on food and exercise changes...

    Welcome to the community! <3

If you haven't already, read the stickies at the top of the getting started forum. Very informative and helpful.

Buy a food scale. Weigh everything you eat and log into the food diary.

    Good luck with your journey!

The food scale is definitely helpful, thank you! I was logging things based on serving size/servings per container/measurements, but I pulled out my long-forgotten scale and used it for the veggies in my salad at lunch and it was much easier!

many foods have more than one serving per container, so a food scale is important. my husband's bread slices are actually over one serving each, and my trader joe's riced cauliflower bowls are 2.5 servings per bowl.

if you eat salad, do you use dressing?

I used one serving of ranch (measured out), then S&P and a little white wine vinegar to stretch the flavor since it was a larger salad.

I’m back. I never really stuck to this but I just flew in coach and I was terribly uncomfortable and embarrassed. I often look around and find that I’m the fattest of one of the fattest in the room. I’m 56 years old using a cpap machine and starting to experience pain when walking. I also run out of breath and have high blood pressure. IM SICK OF IT.
