So I'm nearing my goal weight (12lbs away) And I have noticed it is harder for me to lose weight, which I know to expect. My question is, is it possible to lose 6 pounds or more in a month now that I'm at such a low weight? I hadn't been exercising very much before but now I'm doing insanity and I would really like to lose at least 6 pounds next month.

If you are eating cleanly (no dairy, junk, breads, etc) and doing insanity it is totally doable to lose 6+ pounds.
Make sure you are drinking plenty of water!0 -
have you thought about upping your water intake?0

with the risk of sounding stupid..... whats insanity?0

Insanity is a form of high intensity interval training (HIIT) which is a great way to shred fat, and get that metabolic increase you need to beat a plateau. I am a certified personal trainer, and exercise science professor, when I have clients reach a weight loss plateau I increase their intensity, and do interval training. Keep in mind that starting any form of muscle building routine you may not lose weight right off the bat (you might even gain) due to muscle mass increase. Keep an eye on how your clothing is fitting. Yes Insanity has a major cardio component, but all those push ups and jumping will build muscle. You are 100% doing what you should be to reach your goal. Keep up the good work. If you find that you are not losing try adding 20 min. of sprint intervals a couple times a week.0

I think as long as you're eating clean, keeping protein up, exercising, and doing some sort of strength training, you shouldn't have any problems.0

If you are not losing weight while keeping your goals, it may be that you are consuming too few calories and have gone into starvation mode.
I kept telling myself that I was different and that if I was honest with my food journaling and religious with my exercise, I was bound to lose weight! Not so!! After several months of always eating the 1200 calorie allowance and more but practically never eating all my exercise calories, my weight was static but composition analysis indicated that I was losing muscle (despite exercise). . I increased my calorie consumption a bit ( a minimum of 200 calories per day) and increased my cardio and strength training too. I have started to lose again!0
