Age 43, 3 young kids between 10 and 5, in pretty good shape.
What do you do to fight off boredom? Sometimes I get so bored and can’t think of anything to do...

Hobbies, including exercise hobbies (I make jewelry, do misbegotten mixed-media projects including visual journaling, garden, try to teach myself to play bluegrass banjo, row on water, among other things). MFP forums, computer games, Pinterest, other social networks. Reading or podcasts or listening to music. Stretching. Shower. Prep basic foods and chuck 'em in the freezer.0

I find myself cleaning and cooking more and also reading and searching for recipes and ideas to eat healthy. You can come on MFP..I’m finding I’m doing lots of that lately. I also try to do more social things like walks with friends, meet for coffee and that sort of things. I also make more tea and drink slowly. Sometimes just doing something for 20 mins will take your mind away from snacking etc.0

Oh my, when my son was in that age range, boredom was the least of my worries. 😂
It's important to have "me time". I have my gardens, reading, my dogs, making jewelry, painting. Lots of stuff. Maybe learn something new.2 -
Some days I wish I could experience boredom for a day or two.
Go for a walk.
Clean the house.
Start a hobby.
Volunteer.
Get a part-time job.
Go to the gym.
Go to university.
Take classes at your local library or community centre.
Take up cycling ... or swimming ... or train for a triathlon!3 -
I read a great quote once.. "bored people are boring," and anytime I feel bored, I think of that..and find something to do4

Will your kids go trick or treating? The elementary school my kids went to would have an annual parade where the kids would carry a favorite book dressed up as their favorite character. You could dress up to hand out treats. I made several costumes when my kids were young and kind of miss those days!1

"Bored" is a vague term. Unless you are locked in solitary confinement or in other dire straits (which I hope is not the case), there are limitless things you could be doing both big and small. Consider what is blocking you from doing and enjoying them. I recall that, as my children were transitioning to being more independent, I also needed to transition. (Just wait until they're in the teen years!) A support group and/or life coach/therapist can be very helpful.2

My mother used to say that. 😁0 -

And I learned very quickly never to say "I'm bored" to my mother!!
That was the quickest way to find myself doing the dishes or cleaning the house or something I didn't particularly want to do!!4
