I broke my wrist 2 1/2 month ago, had surgery and now am doing physical therapy. I got depressed not being able to work out and gained 10 pounds back that I worked so hard to lose and my body went to mush. How does everyone get back on the wagon when you fall off? I keep restarting each week and fail. HELP!!

Hope you're healing well. You know the drill. Stay in a calorie deficit and lose weight. No exercise necessary for weight loss but it does tone you.
Just log into the food diary truthfully and stay in a deficit.
I haven't lost my mojo since starting mfp. I've never quit so can't help you with that part of it.
Good luck.1 -
Do some exercise that doesn't involve your wrist -- walk, run, dance. Sign up for a class or a group, then just show up and take part. It's wonderful outside. Just go for a walk, and once you get there, walk back.
I haven't lost my mojo, either, although I injured my leg this week (seeing the doctor tomorrow). My health is at stake. I want to fit in my clothes and be a decent weight, not live on pills for high blood pressure and high cholesterol when I could do something about those things myself. Live is for living and enjoying.2 -
Take each day as a new start. All you have to do is get through one day. After you make it through a few days, you will feel better and it won’t be as hard to keep going.2

Most of weight loss is food, not exercise. You can do this, just get back into it.2

Hi, I’ve been here a few times and lost my mojo on a few occasions. This time I’m sticking. It’s weird and I’m not entirely sure why but I think I’ve had a different approach this time. I spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted to do, how and why etc and for me making a list of the pros and cons of starting to diet, how I’d feel both short and long term and then the pros and cons of not making that change. That gave me the basis for my decision to start and since then I decided that today is the last day I’ll be this fat. It seems to have stuck really well. I’m eating normal food and enjoying going out still but making sure I stick to my calorie deficit and it’s a plan I can live with.
I hope it helps you too.2 -
Chronic stopper and re-starter here - not sure if I'm the best person to take advice from. But it sounds like now is a good time to take inventory of your reasons for being here. What motivated you to lose that weight in the first place? How did you feel 2.5 months ago? What can you do today to get back to that feeling? By writing this question today, it shows that you recognize there's a problem and you are ready to address it - channel that energy into making a plan for how you're going to proceed right now, tomorrow, and next week. Be specific with your plan, and include a reward for when you stick to it. Remind yourself that you know it's possible because you've done it before. If your roadblock goes beyond weight loss - if you can't think of anything that motivates you, or you can't imagine yourself feeling good ever again, or you think you don't deserve to feel like yourself - then it's time to get a mental health professional involved.2

Try to make your program about things to do and be sure to do them. Number one thing to do is log everything into your food diary. Even if you go over your number. Even if you go wildly over. Log everything.
If you are having trouble sticking to your number, calculate your maintenance number for where you are now and aim for that. A plan you won’t follow isn’t a good plan. You can fix your calorie target after you get control of the process.1 -

I broke my wrist twice. First was 5 years ago, crashed my bike. I walked with my cast on as soon as the intense initial pain was gone and then ran with the cast on. Second time was 3 years ago. Another bike crash (FYI I've since given up road biking!) This time I needed pins and plates in my wrist. I could walk, but no way could I run. Motivation to stay fit and healthy went WAYYYY down. Found it hard to pull myself back. Its not easy, and for me anyway, its 100% in my head. I put on a lot of weight during that time too. Now I was great with my physio and this wrist is actually stronger than my other one. I joined a gym and got right into it... this was 3 years ago.... didn't lose a pound but felt fit. Slowly copped onto the fact that its CICO. I am a binge eater though so self control is a skill for me! Joined Team RH in May this year... I've lost 28 pounds since Jan 2019. Now I do three classes a week to keep myself sane, walk and run with the dogs and eat in a deficit.
Are you like me? If you are exercising, you'll eat better. If you're not, you wont eat well at all! If that's the case you need to find something you like and you will stick to? You may not be able to run but could you walk? Borrow a dog, find a beach and walk the legs off yourself. Find a friend that will do things with you. Aim to complete a 5k.. a long walk, a hike etc etc. You'll have each other to spur you on.
Sorry for the long rant... you can tell I resonate with you!0
