What is unhealthy about Thai food?
Personally I wouldn't order anything from a restaurant that sold unhealthy food in case of cross contaminaton......

Do you mean low calorie choices rather than healthy/unhealthy choices?

Low calorie choices unfortunately rules out my favouriate dishes of Pad Thai and Massaman Curry....

Avoidance of high fat ingredients (such as peanuts and coconut) and deep fried dishes probably a good start point. Lean towards the mainly veg and lean meat options.

This might give you a guide....

Larb, som tam, grilled chicken or fish. There are a lot of lean choices with thai food. Avoid deep fried stuff, dishes that come with a lot peanut sauce or coconut cream. Northern and NE Thai are the leanest regions because they don't use coconut cream.

Of the starters only 4 and 9 look like lean options.

On that menu I would avoid the curries as they all contain coconut milk, the fish because it is all battered and deep fried. Only the Junge Curries contains no coconut milk, but be warned that is an extremely hot dish. There are several stir fried dishes (not battered) in the squid, prawn, chicken, beef and pork sections. I would avoid fried noodles and fried rice because those dishes can be greasy. Go for plain rice, a stir fried protein and maybe share a veggie side.

If the table is eating Thai style (someone orders for the entire table and everyone shares) just ask whoever is ordering to ensure there are some the lighter stir fries (not battered, no coconut milk), veggie sides and plain steamed rice on the table.

Surprised that there are none of the light Thai salads on the menu, such as larb or som tam.

I usually avoid satay because that normally comes smothered in peanut sauce.

Also a little surprised that there are no typical grilled meat dishes such as Gai Yang and Weeping Tiger.

Thanks for all your help going for the king prawns with ginger and the steamed rice think this must be one of the best options.
