So yesterday i figured id start up'ing my calories. In july i went to a medical weight loss clinic and they put me on this 1000 calorie diet and it seemed like it was working and i was still getting to drink my adult beverages on the weekends. i was losing about 2lbs a week which they looked at me like it was awful that was all i lost but i was happy with it because i knew what was healthy i just wanted to be accountable (you went every two weeks). But after a financial issue i was not able to afford the clinic and i figured i could do it on my own. ANYWAY. I was reading all these posts about eating more to lose more and i thought well lets give it a shot and up my calories to 1300 instead of 1000. I ate 1400 yesterday and the scale went down from 232.0 to 230.4!!! Question to all of you folks is....will this continue or am i going to be really disappointed at the end of week (ill willing to give it a week, i weigh in everyday though). Im really busy with work so right now im just doing focusing on my diet and not working out. I know everyone will say i need to work out and i will get there when work slows down here soon.

weight loss is like 85% diet, 15% exercise...you can definitely do it with out exercising. Eating more is key to get that metabolism going and to avoid plateaus0

that's too insignificant of a weight loss from day to day to consider it a trend. I would be careful about upping your calories - only do that slightly (100-200 cal/day) on days that you work out a lot. This is what has worked for me so far...0

If your calorie deficit is too large then yes, eating more will actually trigger you to lose weight. That said, I don't think you'd see the effects of this in a short 24 hours ... Give it 2-3 weeks and see if the trend continues.0

I think people use being busy as an excuse not to 'work out'. Why not get incidental exercise? I walk to and from work at a brisk pace, so thats 3km every day. I walk everywhere actually-to the grocery store, gym. shops!
Get off a few stops early if you catch a bus. Walk during your lunch break. Wake up at 530 to go to the 6am gym class (yes it sux but if you don't even think about it, before you know it your at the gym and class is over by 7am!)
Of course with weight loss its more about what you eat but OH MY GOODNESS exercise is so important in terms of heart disease, diabetes, osteroporosis (do weights!) and so many other health conditions.
Plus you look and feel great.0
