Stretch Marks & Battle Scars

I have some rather ugly scars on my stomach earned in combat (while I served in the army). And I’m often embarrassed by them, so much so that most time I wear a shirt when swimming and won’t take a shirtless pic. But my darlings you have told me to be proud of them and I’ve taken my shirt off at the pool many times now. But I say the same thing to you. I have a dear friend who is embarrassed by her stretch marks (from pregnancy) and is ashamed of them. But I say she is even more gorgeous for them. Think of why you have them! Mainly it’s pregnancy and/or weight loss. Those are two things to be immensely proud of!!! So I know it can be hard to see at times but please please know that you are all the more gorgeous for those stretch marks. Be proud of yourselves my beautiful, sexy darlins. I am proud of you beyond words and this cowboy remains your #1 fan.

    What a good post :) I usually am ashamed of my stretchmarks from my babies, but this summer on the beach I rocked the bikini proudly. And you know what? We were with tons of people and not one of them looked at me strange or made me feel like I shouldn't be showing off. I agree with you 100%!

    That is sooo sweet, but I still don't look right in a bikini...makes me look odd. I have a long torso...however, I love the bathing suits that have the cuts in the sides...those are sooooo cute!

XOXOX God bless you and your family !! i got all kinds of battle scars and stretch marks.... but for some i have reminders... 19,17,12. :-) best thing and scariest thing i have been thru but i wasnt alone :-)

    I agree, scars that are truely earned (like yours) are not nasty, they are a badge. I'm so proud of you for embracing them instead of being ashamed.

    My stretch marks (tiger stripes) are my "pride," and I wouldn't mess with my cub. They are mine, it took me nine months to get them and with his life I earned them. I wouldn't mess with this tigress.

    I agree that no one should feel like they need to hide scars or marks (or cellulite, for that matter). It's another part of our beautiful bodies.

    I've got tons of stretch marks, and a giant scar from a botched birthmark removal on my back, and it's always good to know that there are guys out there (other than my husband) who think these things are still gorgeous, even when I don't!!

    And I'm thinkin' everybody needs a good cowboy in their life -- great post, Mr. Cowboy.

    Ahh, you're the best! I have had 2 beautiful children and I wear my battle wounds with pride. I always say if you need directions, I full on have a map on my stomach!

    My Battle Scars! Oh where do I even begin!

    I find that my battle scars are a beautiful part of me. You see, they are the result of two pregnancies. One of which ended prematurely (three whole months early) and another pregnancy that was high risk because of my previous pre-term pregnancy. When I look at my scars, I am reminded of the battle I fought for those short 6 months and the second battle that, even though was full term, was at risk. Over time they have faded, but they are still visible. I use to be at complete disgust over the way my stomach looked. Until I came to the realization of what they really stand for. I am constantly reminded of the battle with my two pregnancies because of my beautiful caesarean section scar and my stretch marks. They will always be a part of me and I can happily accept that now.

    When I look at my two beautiful girls, it makes every bit of it worth it!

    Thanks Ed, for what you have done, adn lifting us up. One day, when I loose some of the jiggle I will proudly where my bikini, for now it's only worn around immediate family.

    Bio Oil...friend of mine had a dermatologist recommend it for scars. If you can make yourself use it twice a day, it will reduce their appearance. I've tried it and it does seem to work. But after a couple weeks, I get lazy with it. I found it at Wal-mart.

    We definitely need more guys like you around!! No one should be ashamed of their body, because it's essentially who we are.. and we're all beautiful in our own way and time. Some of us (like me) just need to be reminded once in awhile. Thank you!!! :-)

    I totally agree! In fact, I've always called my stretch marks, my personal "battle scars". I battled every single day through my pregnancies. I am super proud of them. I even walked out on the beach in my bikini 2 months after having my first son. I wasn't ashamed of them! If I didn't have them, I wouldn't have my beautiful baby boys! After a combined 19 1/2 months of pregnancies, 2 c-sections, and two awesome little boys, I have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of! It's just proof that my hard work paid off in the form of my gorgeous children. :-)
