How many of you schedule in a rest day into your workout schedule. I am training for a Triathlon this summer and every training plan has rest days built into them. Today is my rest day. Tomorrow I will do my long run of the week. I just feel like I should be doing something. I know my body needs a day off but I want to go work out. Does any one else feel like this? :grumble:

I totally agree with the rst day concept IF you are training hard..but if your feeling guilty couldnt you just go for a 1-3 mile brisk walk?:drinker:
  • I have 2 rest days a week in my plan...but I don't rest if I can help it. I try to do at least 20 - 30 minutes of cardio on those days. That way either I - A. Just have extra workouts which CAN'T hurt. or B. Have something "in the hole" just in case I can't fit in a workout one day. I am a working single mother of a 10 year old boy...so, I'm sure those "in the hole" days will come in handy for me at some point. And if I don't use is for back up,it only makes my weight loss go faster! Maybe you could try just doing some kind of fun physical activity.

Good luck with your Triathlon !

I always take 1 full day off from the gym or any serious cardio such as running a week. My trainer also reccommends 1 day off a week. If it was up to me I would be doing something 7 days a week, but she insists that my body needs the rest.
