Walking nature trails is my FAVORITE exercise!

And now that I am 132 pounds lighter, the trails are much more enjoyable.

My boys and I thought it would be a fun Halloween activity to go for a walk in the "spooky woods". (Actually a nature trail behind the sports field) Turns out it's now our favorite thing to do, and wasn't spooky in the least!2

Congrats! That’s fantastic! I hiked when I was losing weight as well and now I can run up and down those same trails! It’s so nice being out in nature, keep up the good work!

Yay hiking! I do fifteen miles with my local rambling group every Sunday. Even when it rains, it's still great

Beautiful views!! I greatly enjoy trail hikes and taking in the beauties of this earth!
Not sure how the photos will upload but the one with my children is Harper’s Ferry, WV overlooking the river (I cant remember if it’s the Shenandoah or Potomac at this spot).
The other is a hike overlooking Lake Chatcolet (sp?) in Idaho. That one was a doozy

This used to be a road - you can tell by the doubletrack - but now it's part of a Wilderness (Pasayten) and is a trail. It looks like these used to be lodgepole pines, they grow like the hair on a dog's back, their cones won't release seeds until they're warmed by a fire.
It's fun to go off trail too. This is me on my way to Lewis Lake. Had to cross miles of rubble to get there.

Love all the Fall colors. I'd like to try to find some of it nearby me (in AZ) but you have to drive around 90 minutes.
This is from last weekend. Linda Vista Loop Trail at the foot of Pusch Ridge (part of Coronado National Park) north of Tucson.

Toronto has a whole bunch of trails and it's been fun stumbling on them as I've increased the length and duration of my walks. I'd eventually like to tackle all of these: https://trca.ca/conservation/watershed-management/don-river/watershed-features/. So far, I've been focused on the Beltline and Mud Creek Ravine.5

This is the section of Pacific Crest Trail I'm responsible for maintenance of. Everything between Harts and Grasshopper Passes.
Here's the same trail in the spring - the snow melted early this year and I was able to get up there in June. Next spring I need to go explore those meadows down below, they're calling out to me. A friend warned me that some of the terrain below is almost as pleasant as being mauled by a bear, but some things you just have to do.
Lupines are so charming. Wonder why they're named after wolves? (Canis lupis)
Paintbrush (the red flower) is actually a parasite, it robs other plants of nutrients.
Yours truly, in between clipping brush that was overgrowing the trail. With a leaky hydration pack.

We’re a stones throw from Shenandoah Nat’l Park - I bought the National Pass this year so we could explore more outside of Harper’s Ferry We’re only here for a “season” (not sure how long exactly, or where we’re going next) so we want to make sure we take advantage of the area... Natural Bridge and some of the caverns are on the list as well (I went 20+ years ago, but my husband and children have never been).

I've never been to Shenandoah, but every time it comes up I feel like I need to fix that, and you've maybe doubled that feeling! Hope you're enjoying it, sure looks like you are. 🙂1 -

There's a whole Spanish town lost in Sycamore Canyon somewhere, no joke! Spanish Crown settlers lived there in the mid-1700s, now nobody can find it...3
