Sunday I went on a destress run and about 3/4 of the way a light switch flipped I thought "if I can run 5 why not 13?!?". I found one in California and I going to sign up tomorrow. I think my husband is going to do it to and I wanna know who else is with me? I am so excited about this. Over a year ago I said I was going to do but but I got an injury, 4 months ago I had surgery on my wonderful foot. I feel great now and nothing is going to hold me back!! (and if I pay for it I will never waste the $$$ lol)

So MFP who is running their butts off with me for the next 2 months?! Who wants to join? This could be a spot we can share tips, acomplihments, sorrows or whatever.

Happy Running!!

I was supposed to do a 1/2 marathon this past weekend, but thanks to the hurricane it was cancelled. I am still running but for personal reasons will not be signing up for any more races until the spring. Add me as a friend...it will help keep me motivated and training even thouh I don't have a race in the near future.

running is a mental game...that is how I approach it..."If i can run 6 miles, what is 7 more " :). I was more than prepared to run the 1/2...my long run was 12 miles a few weeks ago.

    Happy trails!

I'm running my first 1/2 on November 5th and I'm so excited. There are a bunch of other MFP folks on here that are running it too! Feel free to add me if you would like to share success and horror stories!
  • I've never been a runner, honestly, ever. But some bug bit me and I decided recently to do a 5k in October, started training with the C25K about 5 weeks ago, and I should be done by 5k time. I know it's not quite a half marathon, but it feels like it to me :) I'm proud of the full 3 minutes I can last now of straight running, even though I know it's nothing compared to what I'll have to do soon...But...It's a pretty big deal for me :)

I'd be more than happy to be encouraging! And would certainly not mind some back :)

bummer. sorry about the cancelled run.

Doing the Leavenworth, Washington 1/2 marathon on October 15th. I pulled my hamstring during my boot camp class. It set me back for a month, but I"m back on track. Gonna run 9 miles this Friday. I have run several 1/2 marathons and a couple full marathons. But I'm really excited because my 25 year old daughter is running with me this time, and it's her first! So psyched. Here's hoping everyone stay's healthy and injury free!

I think it is a big deal too!! When I pushed my self to do 2miles compaired to today, my fast 5miles ever. I felt the same, I came home proud that I did it and that no one made me!!! It is totally mental you think I just ran 1/2 a block I can make it to the next pole , soon enough, you look back in amazement look how far you went!! <3 that!

I started c25k last year and it was on my longest run to date (8miles) a few weeks ago I also had a revelation... what's 5 more miles?
So I registered for the Atlanta Thanksgiving Day half marathon and started Hal Higdon's HM training program yesterday.
Running 13.1 miles on thanksgiving morning, I figured I'll have earned my turkey ;)

The ultimate goal is a full marathon next year. (planning on the Nashville country music marathon (4/28/12)
