I always have "You're so Damn Hot" by Ok Go in my playlist. Not only is it really upbeat, but there is nothing like hearing that over and over while you are working on bettering yourself!

ANY THING FROM THE LONELY ISLAND
Chromeo - Don't Turn The Lights Off, Hot Mess
Dave, Dee, Dozy, Beaky and Tich (Yes that's the band's name) - Hold Tight (it's an old song, but I love it)

I noticed today that whenever any of the Mindless Self Indulgence songs come on on my playlist, my butt really gets wiggling. Not everyone's cup of tea, but you said rock/alternative, and it's pretty darn alternative. According to wiki, "Their music has a mixed style including rap, punk rock, alternative rock, electronica, techno and industrial." Not for the easily offended, but damn great music to work out to.

Lo-Pan "Salvador" and "Sasquanaut" - both albums available on Small Stone Records.
Left Lane Cruiser, "All You Can Eat," "Junkyard Speedball," and "Bring Yo *kitten* To The Table", all available on Alive Records.
Clutch "Clutch", "Live in Flint", "Robot Hive / Exodus"

Especially Lo-Pan. "Salvador" got me so amped I deadlifted 625, then chewed through a leg press machine like George "The Animal" Steele.
