Stairclimbing workouts ?

Im about ready to sign up for my 2nd Scale the Strat here in Las Vegas coming in February. Its 108 floors worth of stairs. Last time I did the event I trained stairs once a week in addition to my other workouts.But want to be faster this time.
Does anyone else here do stairs as part of of their weekly workouts ? Have you entered in any stairclimbing events ? If so how often do you do stairs and what other training do you do to augment it ?

    I climb stairs 4-5 days a week. I was up to 40 flights a day for a while but found it a bit much.

    Be careful with knee injuries. I used to run up stairs in lieu of hill training but the pounding the one knee got in the turn lead to injuries for me. In any case, don't be tempted to run down and take the elevator down to spare your knees.

    40 flights is great. I had a place where I was able to do the stairs at a 16 floor parking garage twice up and down (32 floors)it was a super workout. But now the casino that the garage is at is pay parking now so no more there. Tonight im going to do a 5 floor parking garage. So four times up is tonights goal.

    Ease into it. Walking up is all right. Walking down will get your calf muscles.

    And don't run. :)

    I dont do any stair climbing events, but a do a stair workout once a week with my trainer. It involves running up the flight of stairs, sometimes one stair at a time, then 2 stairs. Up to 2 down 1. Squat jumping up, burpeeing up. Lunging, press ups and god knows what else.
