In one day, how far have I walked? I know I do this at work and Id like to take those steps into consideration on MFP if I can.
Might mean I can partake in a glass of wine with dinner

How many inches is your normal stride? Also, what is your activity level set at? (Sedentary, mildly active, etc..) How many steps do you typically take per day?0

According to my sportline pedometer, 9356 steps (which is what I did today at work) was 4.75 miles and burned 430 calories.0

Your stride is the biggest determiner of the distance, but the average most people is 1/2 mile for every 1000 steps. Your pedometer should have an option to measure your stride so it can calculate distance.0

Thanks guys, I think I like the sound of 4.75 miles (sounds like loads, we work in kilometres here) and burning 430 calories. I will underestimate (Im only 5ft 4 so strides are small). Best I go check how many calories a glass of wine has. Im learning something new each day on here!0

Here is a calculator I found, I am pretty sure you are familiar with distance = velocity * time. If you have already forgot about it, there's going to be tons of calculator online. Also, I found this calculator that will give you an estimate of how much you will lose or could lose. http://walking.about.com/library/cal/uccalc2.htm0

First of all, locomotion is not the same as exercise. Just because you are moving around, that does not mean that you are substantially raising your energy level.
If you are already walking around at work, that activity is already accounted for in your plan. Counting it twice doesn't mean you will be burning more calories.0 -

^ That. Hence my questions earlier.0 -
Okay. Looks like I'll have to hit the excercycle tonight. Its been a long day so Im having a glass of sav (I checked, red wine has more calories) wether it kills me or not!0

Just have the wine!0

i was always told you can't count the steps you take in a normal day. Anything above and beyond your normal is what counts toward exercise. anyone else heard this?0
