Let me introduce myself. I struggled with my weight as a teen, topping out at nearly 200. I dropped it after high school and got to a healthy weight. Every major life changed has brought weight back on - having kids, pre-menopause, menopause, family tragedy, post menopause. I've knocked it back down each time, and have been surprised that each time required a different strategy, and resulted in a different type of lifestyle change to maintain. Each time as been much harder and slower. At this point, it's moving off at a snail's pace.
Motivation. I have a hyatial hernia. It does not bother me as long as I keep the weight at 150 or below. Every female on my mother's side has had arthritic knees, and I'm starting to feel twinges. They have also sustained falls and broken bones. My husband had a major health scare a coupe of years ago. The idea of being put out of commission by a preventable injury or illness scares the bejimminies out of me.
Goals. The goals at this stage are to drop weight to a healthy range, realign my eating style to a lifestyle that will keep me healthy into my golden years, and strengthen the muscles that support my knees, ankles, and shoulders, along with my core, to prevent injury.
Dropping weight post menopausal has been so difficult, I need this to be the last time. 10-15 pounds used to be easy to drop, so that was always my warning bell to focus. Not so much now. Looks like a 3-5 pound fluctuation will be it.
A healthy weight for me is 135-140. I've always looked anorexic at 120. We'll see how things are at 135, and go from there.
Strategy: Up the hydrating foods. Fruit with breakfast. Salad/veggies as bulk of lunch. Healthy dinner. Limit/eliminate processed carbs and sugars. Zero calorie intake after 8pm. Strength exercises 3 days on/1 day rest. Regular movement through day to compensate for desk job.

11/09 (S). 146.3 I was firmly in the 147's the week prior (147.1 on the 8th) This is a whoosh. Hoping it is the result of a modification to my WOE, where I've added fruit to breakfast and a handful of greens to lunch.
11/10 (S). 147.0 The expected spike after a whoosh. Had a higher than normal fat breakfast Saturday morning, skipped lunch, and had frozen appetizers (high sodium) for dinner watching the Xfinity Race (we're big NASCAR fans here). Skipped fruit altogether. Did have a salad with the appetizer dinner).
11/11(M). 147.0 Another big Sunday breakfast with high fat and no fruit. Skipped lunch. Again. Tacos during the Monster Cup Race. Higher fat than one expects. Sodium was high as well, so drink extra water to accommodate - and that looks to be a successful strategy. Blueberries for an evening snack.
So. Next weekend are the Championship races for all 3 series. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We make a huge big deal out of this. It's my family's Super Bowl. I need to plan ahead so I'm not stuck in kitchen and we have plenty to eat. I also need to make sure I'm moving early and afterwards - that's a lot of TV time.
11/12. 146.9 Nice. Ripped the water intake, and stayed on plan. Tried a new recipe for gazpacho for lunch! Have enough of the ingredients for a second batch for lunch today! Had salmon cakes for dinner. Family tradition calls for fried white potatoes as a side 😳 I splurged with a half size portion and added a spinach salad. Win for everyone. 😊
Having the family in Sunday for the big race 🏁 Decided on a menu of chili w/ground turkey & a big bowl of salad. Oven baked chicken strips for the kiddos. Fruit & salad tray and hummus with low carb flat bread for snacks should keep me and daughter in-law out of the inevitable chips & dip. I think I've got this!

11/09 160.5 Another pound, that’s very unexpected. I’m sure it will be higher tomorrow. I did see 159 briefly but it’s right there. Walked three last night, they’ve changed my favorite trail a little- made it easier but I prefer the old way. It was more challenging.

Hi everyone, I am a returnee and this is my third attempt to restart in this challenge. The previous two attempts I did not finish the rounds, unfortunately. Previously I had lost a little over 20 lbs, but have gained 9 lbs. my plan was just to take off the summer months off, but I extended it! My goal is still 170 lbs and then see. I always found this group to be very supportive and motivating, so here I go again.

Hi, I’m Karen and I’m 53.

11/11-172-I was a few pounds lighter but sat and sewed for a week. I’m back home to do a weeks worth of laundry and leave for the rest of the week, tomorrow with my husband and sewing machine. He has business meetings in Monterey and I am bringing my walking shoes too. It will be relaxing and I WILL get exercise because there is a paved walking path along the beach, where I have run their half marathon in years past. I am looking forward to getting back to walking instead of the gym, I seem to weigh less, the more I walk, no matter how many weights I lift. I won’t have my scale, but I will keep in touch.
11/12-171-Got my 7 mile walk in yesterday and am a little sore. I leave this morning and will be able to walk and eat good where I’m going.

11/11 279.0 No drop yet, but I have been experiencing all the pre tom symptoms that I get about a day or two before it shows. Once it shows the water weight should hopefully go.

11/11: 178 This is my starting weight for the challenge. I had a bit of a binge these last few days and I weighed at the end of the day today, but I’m looking forward to starting fresh tomorrow. Maybe I can curb my cookie obsession for the rest of this week.

11/09-- 207.0 I went to the gym yesterday and it was great, I'm working with my coach to do 10 regular pushups and I'm almost there. Then I went out and had a great dinner at Panera Bread with my hubby. Plan today is to go out and do another day of c25k and then take dog out for a long trail walk.
11/10--207.4 I had a great run yesterday, but the rain kept me from taking the dog on a long walk. Going to see strength coach today and then take dog out on that long trail walk. Dinner out tonight, so I will probably be up tomorrow.
11/11--208.1 I had a great dinner last night, but even better was that after dinner both my husband and I decided that we didn't need any dessert. I went out this morning and finished w4d3 of c25k, and then I went to a spa day that my husband had purchased for me.
11/13--207.2 Going out to an event for lunch where I get to have unlimited soups for a donation. The soups are made by the top chefs in the city, and all money from the lunch goes to charity. So, I expect to be up tomorrow. Today is rest day for me.

11/09: 290.6 lbs (-0.4) … a loss to start the round off on the right foot. Taking the family on a day trip to NYC today to visit the Bronx Zoo.
11/10: 290.5 lbs (-0.1) … took a long walk to the store today, stopped and had lunch then walked home again. 6.5 miles round trip. Then immediately zonked out and napped for a while
11/11: 289.7 lbs (-0.8) … a new low, and finally sub-290. Been hovering between 290-294 since the end of October, so I’m really glad to see some movement in the right direction.
11/12: 289.0 lbs (-0.7) … another new low. Feels good to see the number on the scale go down day after day. Had a very active day yesterday, 2+ hours walking, a short run, 25 minutes strength training and then another 25 minutes playing Beat Saber in the evening. I wound up being so tired that I went to bed at 9:30pm.

11/11 - 206.2 Man this weekend kicked my *kitten*. I was doing so good and then within a couple days whoop! I was celebrating my birthday early with my friends on Saturday. We went to Glen Ivy and had some drinks and a nice dinner then a little cake. I also ended up having in and out yesterday I didn't want to be too restricted and honestly just enjoyed myself. We all had a good talk about making better choices and they urged me to make time for myself and workout more because I've been complaining about stopping. I am bummed about my gain, but also very motivated. Hawaii is in one month and I really want to at least feel better and more energetic when I go.
11/12 - 207.2 This round is starting off horribly for me. I didn't make it in the gym again last night. Got in my gym clothes ready to go, but decided not to last min. My bottom left wisdom tooth decided to join the party. Even though it's impacted it has been pushing my gums and I'm still sore. I know I need to push through it, but it's just so painful. Hoping for a better day tomorrow.

11/09: 216.0 (+0.2)/18.1 (+0.1). I honestly half-expected this number to be much higher. It isn't that I did anything wrong; I worked out last night and I ate "reasonably" reasonably. I think I thought I might have been dehydrated a bit at my last weigh-in, and that this could have accounted for my significant final drop in weight. I had plenty of water yesterday, though. Apparently ~216 is a thing. I'm excited.
11/10: 216.4 (+0.4)/18.1 (0.0). I had a nice brunch with my wife yesterday; totally stayed on plan regarding food quality, but probably had a bit more than I should have regarding quantity. I'm headed in the gym today, and my wife is out with her sister all day, so I should have a "good day" regarding health, fitness, and food intake.
11/11: 215.6 (-0.8)/18.0 (-0.1). I hit the gym hard yesterday, and I stayed within my calories. I'm going to chill today at home and try to limit my snacking.
11/12: 217.2 (+1.6)/18.2 (+0.2). This one is a bit of a headscratcher, unless I go back 2-3 days. Even then, it doesn't make a lot of sense. I limited my snacking significantly yesterday, though dinner was a bit of a $#!+show (not that bad, but could have been better). I'm going to roll with it; I won't let it derail me. I'll be in the gym tonight trying to work this off.

Starting over (again) and badly need the accountability of posting here every day. Did several rounds a while back and lost weight with the support of everyone here. Looking forward to catching up with everyone, losing weight and feeling good again. Unfortunately, I've fallen into the habit of eating whatever whenever. I sit at a desk 8 hours every day and go home and sit on the couch. A couple of years ago, I was walking 12,000 steps a day and weighed 25 lbs less. My best advice - don't tell yourself that letting go one or two days won't matter. Even on your bad days - do something! Eat one less bite, walk one more step. NOW, I must try to follow my own advice. Here goes...

I always struggle getting started eating right again (Well actually its not starting - I start every other day). This is day 2 and shooting for day 3. 11/09 …..186.8 ….. It takes just a moment of weakness to put it on, but an immense period of struggle time to take it off. I’m seeing that on the scale (again) this morning and letting it guide me. So I’m still working on getting rid of the gain/bloat from those nachos & fun-sized candies from the other night. Yesterday’s stats: 1625 Calories In / 2666 Calories Out. 35 Net Carbs of mainly Spaghetti Squash. 18,221 Total Steps & 7.71 Total Miles. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 6 hours & 25 minutes. Something is going on with my sleep. I am sleeping more hours & even having some fleeting dreams again after decades of none to recall. I hope this is a good thing and not indicative of my recent health issues. Yesterday I walked at the school (no mall in my area) for 4.21 miles which took about 99 minutes and burned 551 extra calories. I also took a small cold walk around my property for 13 minutes burning an additional 66 calories. Total extra calorie burn 617. Welcome to all the newbies and good luck to all on this round!
11/10 …..186.6 ….. True loss or just fluctuation, IDC, I’ll take it! A very good day yesterday. It was challenging finding activity at home (too cold outside) but I formulated a plan and followed through. Yesterday’s stats: 1150 Calories In / 2873 Calories Out. 28 Net Carbs. 18,138 Total Steps & 7.68 Total Miles. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 6 hours & 44 minutes. (Another great night). I walked for 95 minutes at 3.0 mph to burn 511. I rigorously cleaned tourist cabins for 54 minutes to burn 265 calories. I did low-impact aerobics for 20 minutes to burn 129 calories. Total extra calorie burn 905. Sunday (today) will also be challenging as the school is closed to walkers. Getting creative again…..

Yesterday’s stats: 1208 Calories In / 3039 Calories Out. 36 Net Carbs. 18,477 Total Steps & 7.82 Total Miles. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 4 hours & 27 minutes. I walked for 17 minutes at 4.0 mph burning 113 cals, I walked for 39 minutes at 3.0 burning 222 cals, I did misc cardio exercises for 31 minutes burning 133 cals and I did my crazy dancing in my livingroom for 58 minutes burning 467 calories. 11/12 …..188.6 ….. Now….just to await the result of the CT scans. Yesterday I wore my fitbit on my shoelace most of the day due to pushing carts while shopping for hours after the scans. Took advantage of being in a larger town with real stores. The steps are usually accurate but the calorie burn is not because its not monitoring the heart rate which is part of the formula (I mean, did I really burn over 4,200 calories while walking a lot less steps than my usual day???). Here is what I do know. Over 2000 calories In/ ??? Calories Out. Over 200 Carbs including Pizza. 15,093 Total Steps & 6.39 Total Miles. 9/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 4 hours & 19 minutes. Yesterday was a combination of emotional eating and splurging. Today is redemption day. I will be walking at the school and eating a combined low cal/low carb diet. Tightening the belt. No regrets. No guilt.

@deepwoodslady I guess you’re right about the HRM on your Fitbit not being accurate on your shoe. My HRM is a separate device with a chest strap and transmitter. I’d read about the inaccuracy of the HRM watches before I decided and bought this.3

I didn't eat a lot of food, just filling. I prepared the food for my & DH's visit to DS's home yesterday. Creamy fire roasted tomato and red pepper soup, mushrooms stuffed with turkey sausage & cream cheese, broccoli bites and purchased naan, truffle cheddar cheese and artichoke spread for nibbles. Anytime I cook, my Son and DIL are happy and excited for the food. 😊

Female, 5’, 66 years. Goals – finish calorie log each day, only yogurt or fruit in the evening and nothing after 9 p.m. SW – 163.6, GW – 162 something, UGW – 140. (This really should be 125 or 130 but that seems like such a long ways to go and 140 would be a huge improvement.)
Last round was crazy going up into the 164’s and even saw one weight that was 165 though it was down when I reweighed. This round have a couple of days to the denturist (and shopping in the city) but if I can keep that under control everything else is on an even keel.

11/10- 149.8 Planning on upping my workouts a lot this round, usually means my weight ticks up before it drops. Mentally/emotionally trying to get ahead of how that feels.
11/11- 151.6 yep there is that swing up after spending two hours in the gym yesterday. I was ready for it so I feel pretty good. It might go higher as this week I’m aiming to train hard.
11/12- 151.6 lol it was 153 at 4:30am after a high sodium dinner and two days of lifting. Lots of water and a 90 minute yoga class this morning helped bring it back under control. I’ve got a high cardio evening with kickboxing and spin. I’m going into winter gym mode as gardening season has ended.

11/09 DNW out of town for start of round. Did intervals this morning with dog and kids - run until HR reached 85% of max, and then walked until it reached 65% (repeat as many reps) so got a nice cardio workout in, though may have put too much strain on my achilles tendon. Went to the health and fitness center in town and was able to get my strength workout in so hopefully worked off the coffee milkshake (with whey protein at least) I had for lunch! Challenge dinner out tonight again!
11/10 DNW Was over on calories yesterday, but not too bad since I switched strength training to Sat from Sun so will just go under target for today. Achilles still a little tender from the intervals yesterday, so treating with ice and ibuprophen (rest + elevation too). Leisurely walk this morning with dog and kids helped, but avoiding any high impact exercise for now! 3 hour drive home, so will try to keep it elevated! Back to normal routine tomorrow and weigh-ins.
11/11 114.6, BF% 27.4 Glad to see a drop after the weekend with ice cream, a milkshake, pasta and wine! Muscle weight increased (if I believe scale :-) so back on track for the round! Incorporating Marcona almonds into the lentil/kale salad (https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/make-ahead-lentil-salad) with grilled chicken tonight!
11/12 114.0, BF% 27.3 Steady drop again! Back to upper end of ideal weight for my height and 1.2 lbs to get back to previous low, but NSV like waist measurements and visible flab are definitely improving! Strength training in the am with trainer, and then will fit cardio in after work. Extra calories today, so fettuccine and shrimp for dinner.
