Concerned about my diet

So i've been looking through my records lately and found that on average i eat about 1000 -1200 ( on a rare occasion where i indulge a bit more) calories and am below both my fat and carbs goal that is set for me as well as calorie goal ( i should be having 1650, I'm over 6ft and 190 pounds), but the problem is that alone is a worry to me but when i exercise it's worse since then i burn off about 400-500 a day just doing cardio alone, So by the end of the day when i finish doing more muscle exercises ( bench press, curls etc etc) if i were to add that into it id be at around 600-700 calories burnt if not more. ( this includes beverages, fruits, and even the whey isolate powder)

What scares me is, that when all is said and done in a day it shows where through exercise, i only consume about 600-800 calories a day, and lost 5 pounds in one week, where i should only be loosing two, I've tried to eat more with it but i just cant get myself to actually eat anymore then i can. So im not sure if i should be exercising less??? or what since im only supposed to be loosing 2 pounds a week and i am about 2.5x that amount...

If anyone can help me with suggestions and what not because, I'm not sure if i should continue with this, since I'm loosing weight and feel healthy and perfectly fine, or if i will pay for it in the long run.

P.s- so far without my dinner ( which is going to be a small plate of pasta) im at 705 calories consumed so the max for me today is probably around 1000, in which i have not worked out yet so im going to be burning half if not more..... ( figured id give an example)

    You will pay. Soon.

You sound like you may be on the verge of an eating disorder. Careful with that.

If you continue to eat as little, your metabolism will suffer, making it harder for you to maintain your weight once it's lost. For someone who is 6'0 and 190, you can spare to eat some more. Your exercise is good, though.

You're losing now - but as a rule it won't last. Once your body catches up and realizes what you're doing - your weight loss will slow down or even stop completely.

Best advice? Add in higher calories snacks - like nuts, nut butter (almond, peanut, etc) and even a protein shake with milk.

I would aim to get the daily calories as close to zero as possible. This website is designed to get that number as close as you can to zero. Having 200, 300 or more calories leftover for the day isn't how it is supposed to work here.

    Good Luck.
  • You need to eat at least 1200 calories away, having your intake total that even after you exercise and "gain" more calories. Your body will go into starvation mode and you will suffer. That's not a good thing at all.

If you're maintaining that workout schedule, you need to consume much more than you currently are. Your body cannot sustain enough energy for you to push it in cardio & weights on that level of calorie consumption. Also, are you eating breakfast? If you're eating a healthy breakfast and lunch with fruits and some carbohydrates (whole wheat bread, etc) you should be hitting a much higher calorie count than that. Also, if you probably need to incorporate more protein into your diet in the form of egg, dairy of some sort or nuts if you're weight training. To build muscle mass, it's key.

1200 calories for a male of your height/weight seems too few. You should be at least at 1500. I am a petite female and I eat 1200 a day and have been consistently doing well with my weight. Another point to really consider is that you don't want your body to go into "starvation mode" by eating too few calories. You will stop losing weight and when you start to consume a normal or even higher than the recommended amount of calories, your body will want to retain the fat. It'll all backfire.

Be healthy, eat healthy, and hit your calorie count.

Don't be stupid! Come down off that roof top! Put the gun down! Shut off the car and open the garage door!

You need to eat more AND you need to eat your exercise calories!

"I just can't get myself to eat more." Many people on here had a lot of trouble getting themselves to eat less, but they struggled through it and are becoming healthier for it. You have the same problem, but the opposite. If we all went by how our bodies felt... no one would have ever gotten fat to begin with. So struggle through it and eat enough to keep your body and metabolism healthy.

See thats my problem though is throughout the day i will have snacks usually my whey isolate powder, fruits, oatmeal, so its not like I'm purposely starving myself, but by the end of the day, ill feel completely fine and full, and those are the results.... im going to be posting what i did today on this link, and like any further thoughts that i have as an update ( if i feel content or not, what i did through exercise) and yea.... im just worried since im trying to go lose 45 pounds and end up at 150 ( according to Bmi, this is considered healthy so not like id be underweight) if by the end of it ill have any problems or what will happen when i get there ( if i can get there )

You need to plan out from the night before. That is all. Don't get to the end of the day and think "ooops". Plan it out so that's not an option.

First of all you just started and the 5 lbs was water. You won't lose 5 more next week. But keep on not eating enough and all that cardio and resistance will backfire in lost muscle. So just eat a snickers or something.
  • So far with my daily total i have consumed a net of 1148 calories, 1302 total and that is without me going jogging or swimming , just boxing for about 20 minutes.... I'm over my daily protein limit, and im almost on par with my carbs, just cannot get much more calories or fat required for the life of me.

You need to eat more if you're 6' 190lbs. You're not doing your metabolism any favours by eating so little.
Second, 150 is not a healthy weight for someone your height. You should aim for at least 170 if you don't want to look like a stick. I'm 5'11 and approx. 165 lbs @ 15% bf in my profile pic.

Read Starting Strength or Stronglifts, go sign up at a gym, and be smart. Work out MWF and eat at your maintenance calorie level which should be around 2500. On your rest days, you can go down to 1600-1800.

Another thing, ignore your protein limit. Eat as much protein as you want.

I do go to the gym, and i know its sad to say but I'm following the BMI so at 150lbs it shows me as still in the normal zone which i understand is full of croc but still... , and i do ignore protein since for building muscle mass i know i need as much as i can get and it really causes no harm. The only problem is in order to show any sort of Muscle mass i need to lose body fat which is the problem, since I'm at 25.77% bf , i eat until i am full so not like I'm purposely staving myself. its just through exercise i burn about 500-600 calories if i do a good hard days work out if not I'm usually at 300-400 every day.

Like taso said, plan out your meals AND exercise the night before. Then you will know how much you need to eat to reach your goal and can plan your meals accordingly.

Eat nuts, peanut butter, avocado and use olive oil to cook.

Then, you are not really eating too much more but are adding calorie dense foods to your diet which will also give you healthy fats.
