Should I manually add exercises for my Fitbit or is it just enough to have it transfer over?

I just got my Fitbit this weekend so I’m learning how to use it. I think there is a way to specify the exercise before you do it and then stop the time on it so it calculates it for you instead of counting it as just walking steps but I’m not sure. I need to play more with it.0

When I had a Fitbit I'd let it transfer automatically, then only ate half the calories it gave me, as exercise or no exercise, I felt likely it grossly exaggerate my calorie burn. Definitely don't add exercise ON TOP of what it transfers over.0
