I joined earlier in the week, and MFP has already helped b/c I've found that I don't like having to enter foods that are not nutritious or that I'm not hungry for. I just had dinner out with my family and brought half my food home to have for lunch tomorrow. Yay! Sorry for you guys up north, weather in Austin, TX is sunny and 88 today:glasses: Think of me this coming summer when it is lovely up there because it will be hotter than heck down here! I'm excited about MFP and am looking forward to the experience!

Welcome! I lived in TX, just outside Ft Hood for several years, made the drive down to Austin many a time..mostly for 6th street! Much younger then! Loved the weather most of the time, but the 100 degree plus days in the summer killed me!

Welcome!!! I have lived in Austin since 1986. Love it here.
  • You are hilarious! I've lived in the country outside of Austin for 8 years now and have never seen a snake! That does not mean they are not here, just that I can't see them. Having grown up here, you learn that on warm days in winter, you watch your step if you are hiking b/c snakes will warm themselves in the sun. If you are going to live in Austin proper, I doubt seriously you will ever see a snake, unless you go to the zoo. You will LOVE Austin! It is so much fun, and the people are really great. Let me know if you need any specific info.
  • Hello there from Canada!!! yes, it is way beyond cold here..lol..Im so jelous of your weather I am wanting to make TX my next vacation destination - as a slim holidayer..I too am new to the site and am loving all the interaction and accesible tools to help with the "staying focused".
  • Welcome TX girl!! I just joined this week too. We lived in Houston for 7 yrs and my kids were born there. I am coming down there to visit a life long friend the end of April. I feel the same way you do. I don't want to have to log foods in my diary that are bad either. And eating half and taking half home when dining out is an excellent idea, I try to do that too. I just wish I had done that with my breakfast this morning.:grumble: :grumble: Good luck.
