Weighing Your Food and Recording Properly for Better Weight

Weight does not equal volume when you're calculating out how much to eat. Volume's really uncertain because each different food has its own specific density.
BUT
perseverence does win out.
My favourite treat is Chapman's Cappuccino Frozen Yogurt (no fat) with chocolate flakes. They measure in half cups (125 mL) and I was pretty sure that this was not the same as 125g. So... I emailed the company for calories by weight.
As it turns out, that awesome frozen yogurt... 125 mL (1/2 cup) weighs about 65g, or about half of what the volume number is, so now I have a (more or less) proper calculation. It turns out I was eating twice as much as I was recording which of course is absolutely nfg for the food journal if you're serious about losing the weight.
I was very pleased to have got a response. If you can't find your numbers elsewhere, send the manufacturer an email.

Good for you on the follow-up and I'm sure it was a bit of a surprise to get a response from the company! You're right - it makes quite the difference (too good to be true department).
