    Congratulations!
Don't know what your diet plan is, but I'll tell you mine, maybe you get some ideas. :) - this is just because it's simple and it works.

Losing weight is mostly about diet - 80%, the rest being exercise. So first and foremost, fix your diet. The easiest and the only that makes sense and works for me is low-carbs. That is: NO junk-food, NO sweets, NO bread, potatoes, rice, pasta. What you should replace them with: meat (preferably lean meat), fish, eggs, cheese and yogurt, vegetables and fruits. Keep track of the calories. Anyway, this diet will help you not feel hungry and get rid of the cravings.

On the exercise side, start slow: 1/2 - 1 h walk at least 3 times/week.

And, what motivates me mostly: http://www.reddit.com/r/loseit/ Lots of amazing success stories of regular people.

Best of luck and don't do everything all of a sudden!
  • Congrats on the wedding! I got married myself in August. Now I am married I am still continuing with my weight loss journey. I am planning to start a family but want to start in may next year so I would like to get as close to target as possible by then. I like to do Zumba to burn some cals. I also follow slimming world in terms of eating. I use this place as mid-week support and a way of logging my food and exercise. Good luck in your journey. Feel free to add if you like.

  • Hey Margie,

    Your weightloss is amazing

How on earth have u lost that much so quickly? I was lucky enough to find my soul mate 5 years ago and now we are goingto diet together to see if we can both lead a fuller more active life. Can't wait to get to Florida, do you know if all the shopping malls are open on a Sunday :-) x x
  • Thanks Janeinspain,

That is excellent advice and I am reading up about low starch diet at the moment as I have psoriatic arthiritis and it is supposed to help by cutting the carbs.

I am a mega snacker so cutting out the snacks is always hard for me but it is what i must do to succeed!

I am also really motivated by success stories so will have a look at your link.

  • Thanks Prettygirl but that's probably because I will be the only girl, there is only me, my intended and our son going to be there :-) x x
  • Harlow is just down the road about 30 mins. I have relatives out there. I am originally from London but moved out here in 2001. Are you from the UK too then? Or just your OH?

You seriously should not give up on snacks. Just replace them with the good ones! :)
The lack of carbs in your blood will help you with a lot of stuff, but at first it will help you not feel hungry. Some of the days, I really have to get creative just to go beyond 1000-1200 cal (MFP recommends almost 1500 for me, taking in account the exercise as well).
For example: breackfast, lunch and dinner should be more or less 300 cals/each, and between them you should have 1 snack. That snack, if it is yogurt or fruits, will add another 200-300 cals and you're set. And, most important, the fruit will take care of your need for sweets and you will feel less inclined to crave for them. That is why I don't want to cut fruits out of my diet, as most of the supporters of low-carb diet say.

Most important: have one cheat-meal a week. Set a day for it, exercise a little bit more that day and have whatever you want for that meal, be that pasta or pizza or some kind of dessert. Track it as well and try not to got over your designated calories for that day (too much :) ) This way, you can take care of whatever cravings you might feel, but in a planned manner. :)
