Ok so I am an OCD insane scale checker. I tend to check my weight every morning. And because my scale is giving me different readings all the time I find myself, double, triple, quadruple checking...Well this mornings first weight was 142.6; got that reading 3x. Came back 10 min later and checked again. 141.8- 3x. 10 minutes later again 142.0- 3x. WTH? The inaccuracy has turned me into an Obssesive Lunatic. Not until it had gotten really bad did I notice myself continuously checking...so I guess I am getting a new scale.
That is all.

  • What kind of scale do you have? I bought a Taylor Scale at Target for $30 & it has been accurate (compared to my doctor's scale). It's the glass base and is endorsed by Biggest Loser.

My problem was that I weighned myself and did not ebelieve the reading. So I got a new scale. And then i was weighed at the doctor and got the same reading.

So just weigh yourself once and accept the reading (til tommorrow).

It is a Taylor scale from Target actually. Not the glass base kind though...it was the cheaper one.

I'm not sure if a new scale will help. My scale's (and yes I said scale's...lol) all do the same thing. My sister is also on MFP & her scale does it too. I started weighing in only once a week & it really helped. I had to start hiding the scale or putting it where it was hard to reach or get to. Good Luck to you :)

Maybe you should try and just weigh yourself less then you do......I only weight once a week.......

I weigh every morning after I pee and before anything else - I got into the habit because I was curious about daily fluctuations. As far as I know that is normal. There is a lot of things going on while we sleep. Water also plays a part. Mine shows body fat % and body water %. I will step on the scale and get a bf%. I will step off and step on again and the bf% has dropped a 1/2% or more and the water % has gone up. But the number remains the same.

It doesn't take much to change the number but body composition varies throughout the day.

Looks to me like you dropped a 1/2 pound. I would look at that at treat is as success.

Thats where the obsessive part comes in  I know I shouldn't but seeing that number go down is just so alluring. Although I might be able to just weigh myself once a day now that I know every scale does this.

I also have an Omron handheld bf% analyzer. I get a different bf% with that -it's lower than the scale by about 4% (but dead on with my calipers). Sometimes I will step on the scale when home from work. The scale bf% will have dropped while the Omron bf% goes up. I try not to worry about numbers (that number isn't only fat. It's also water and lean muscle mass). Keep track of how you feel and how your clothes fit. That's a better way to judge.
