Looking for lifting buddies

I’ve been using mfp for a while but this is my first time properly ‘socialising’. I’m lucky enough to have a home gym with an oly bar and plates, squat rack etc so I don’t even see anyone during workouts unless the cat wants to ruin my day
I’m looking for lifter buddies, possibly to squeeze information out of but mainly to build a squad of people who’s eyes won’t glaze over when I talk about a PB. Only one of my friends is a lifter and I can’t monopolise all of her time.... I love picking heavy stuff up and putting it down. Both oly and power and throw a bit of CrossFit in now and then. Actually started off as a CrossFitter but soon realised I loved the lifting more. Also love mountain biking but I’m guessing talk of hardcore hardtails is for another place ;)
Please, add away, I need people to talk to!

Fellow home gymer/cat owner over here. I lift in more of a powerbuilding-style, haven't tried oly or crossfit (but I do have a C2, that counts for something right?). I'll send you a friend request, though I'm not that active as far as wall posts but am always happy to message back and forth.

I also have a home gym- squat rack , bar, weights & bench - no cats. Right now I'm in surgery recovery and lifting the pink weights. Planning on moving to a 531 program soon
Glad to chat with both of you. I'll bookmark this thread

I know how you feel, I’m currently bare barred following a relapse of brain stem migraines which do all sorts of hinky *kitten* to my balance. Not great when you average 15 a month, I could do without a concussion as well as everything else lol. Neuro and husband both said to put the bar down for a couple of months and I’m struggling! I really hope you recover quick and well. Might even get some plates on my bar for your 531! And don’t get a cat, they chew bumper plates...

With those migraines & loss of balance, maybe it would be better to use machines instead of free weghts
I did have cats - they lived in the garage, but after a while the critters get them

No worries. It's why we run filters. It's only a violation if you beat the filters intentionally.

I am a lifter but currently recovering from some injuries (shoulder and lower back). I do lift at the gym but it's mostly powerlifting and bodybuilding. But variety is good.

There are some good things, including a cutting after bulking one that has a lot of good information. Also, check out the stickies.

I’m not a fan of machines, mainly because I can’t fit them in my garage gym... I don’t do well working out in public, silly social anxiety gets me worked up instead of out lol.
I’ve just started a yoga program to make sure my balance is good before going back to lifting with plates on the bar, aiming to be back at it in a couple of weeks :)
Sorry about the cats, mine took a seagull clean out of the air from the top of the fence. Didn’t end well for the gull.

Yep. I couldn't imagine going to a gym.
    In the garage.
    Door closed.
    Music on.
    World stays outside.

Same here - a spare room - squat rack, a bench , a bunch of old weights & AC/ DC on the box for squat days

Totally not sure if I did this right but this is my happy place. With views straight across to the Brecons when it’s daylight lol. Whack a bit of Linkin Park through the eardrums and SQUUUAAAAAAT! Also have a landmine which is epic. No people, I can swear the bar back up if I have to and the plates are always re-racked lol

I tried to work out at home today. My son thought it would be funny to step on the treadmill while I was on it. My husband interrupted me twice while lifting and then took over the satellite radio to watch the football game 😡. The gym is my happy place. Happy to have more lifting friends, add me if you want.
