In school with family? How do you make it work?

Since school has started, I'm finding it very hard to exercise like I was. I'm trying to be more proactive by looking into the school gym and taking some classes. I still am making better food choices, but am finding it so hard to incorporate my daily routines into this schedule.

How do those of you in school with a family do it?? I'm stressing b/c I have so much homework I have to stay on top of, plus my kids hw, and the regular household chores. I'm trying really hard, but at the end of the day I'm exhausted, and first thing in the morning is all about getting the kids ready.

Share your routines!!

PS: My kids get on the bus at 7:!2am, my youngest starts school at 9am-12pm, pick up at 12 feed lunch and get ready for class from 2pm-10pm. When I get home I usually clean up the kitchen, throw a load of laundry in, and pack lunch for the next day. Sometimes if I'm awake enough I do some of my readings at night, but mostly while my youngest is in school.

  • I don't know if you have cable but my cable company has some awesome work out on demand channels. Like this morning I was achy from helping a friend pack yesterday so I just did a 10 minute yoga thing this morning.

It works for me. I don't have time because I both work out of my house and do correspondents courses.

    I hope this helps.

That is tough that you have school for 8 hours each day. Do you have any days off school? I would do some hard core exercise in those days. Then just try to fit in a quick work out from 9-12 while all kids are in school and before lunch. They make exercise videos that are quick but still get your heart rate up real good and burn fat. I do step aerobics or the biggest loser videos in my living room while my kids take their nap (if they take one at the same time lol). I totally get how hard it is. I have 2 kids under 2, and I'm starting nursing school. I struggle just to keep the house clean. You can count vigorous cleaning as exercise, if it really gets you sweating. Could you take a quick walk while the kids are in school? It's tough but each day you make an attempt, is better than doing nothing. Most of all, worst thing you can do, is stress yourself out over it. You have a very busy schedule, that is understandable. Nothing you can do about it, you HAVE to keep your house clean, you HAVE to go to school, you HAVE to feed your kids and you HAVE to sleep... the list could keep going on. Sometimes we put ourselves last and time management is tough to master. But the worst thing to do is stress over this. You are doing the best you can. It will get easier and just keep trying to find time to exercise, if it works out great, if not, just chalk it up and try again the next day!

I get up between 5 and 6 to work out but my kids don't get up until 7. Getting on the bus at 7:12 is BRUTAL. Can you stick the little one in front of the TV for a half hour between when the older ones get on the bus and when you have to take him or her? Or maybe go to school early and get a half hour in at the school gym? Go to class sweaty! No one cares.

Thanks for all the suggestions ... I'm really going to try to make this work!! I had to LOL when I read
"go to class sweaty, no one will care" ... and I know you are probably 100% correct!!

I'm making a schedule of all the things that are set in stone, and going to make an honest attempt to try each day to just do at least 30 minutes!

I thought about listening to my lectures while walking or cycling at the gym. Kill 2 birds with one stone ... gotta do it anyway, might as well!
Thanks for all the positive energy!!
