so i've heard that if you keep eating the same amount of calories, you body can know what to expect, even go into starvation mode, and then plateau. i hear that some people might calorie cycle, meaning that they may change their calorie intake week to week, or something like that.

does anyone have more information?

Yes; I have heard this, too. I read that you go two to three days on a low-calorie diet, then up your calories for a day, and then another 2-3 day string of restricted calories. I forget where I ran across it, but you can google it and get some more info!

Freedieting.com has a calorie needs calculator that will figure the zig zag calories for you

Rather than post something new I'll hijack this:

So I went to freedieting.com and it has you put in the amount of exercise you do and gives you calories that way.

My problem with it is that it seems incredibly high if I put in the number of workouts I do (every day, non intense) because I imagine it is using some much higher number for calorie burn than I actually burn on many days. So I was thinking maybe I should put myself in as "I don't work out at all" and then add exercise calories to those days? but that seems like it could really mess up the zigzag - if I end up doing a mega 2 hour workout on a 'low' day I'll end up eating as muhc as I would with a regular workout on a medium day.

    Thoughts? Help?

I try to zig zag my calories all the time. I have plateaued 4-5 times since I started and doing that always seemed to work for me and kick me off that ledge. Of course I changed my workouts too and that also helped. Shocked my body...

Anyone? My question? And now I'm questioning today because it was supposed to be a low day but then I burned 400ish calories so my net is coming out around 1100 and that seems a bit low for a 180lb person.
