Hi everyone am new here and need some info. Ok here it is I walk on a treadmill daily but don't know how many steps I'm taking. I do this for an hour a day. Should I step it up to 2hrs a day to reach 3000 steps?

Hi Cheryl, if you are doing an hour on the treadmill, you may already be getting more than 3000 steps depending on how fast you're going. I'm guessing at this as the number of my steps I put in from my parking spot to work, in about a 20 minute hike - I am a fast walker though. I use a FitBit - you can even pick up an off brand step counter for a few dollars if you wanted to get a better guess of how active you're being. I know my local dollar store has them for $4.

Apparently the average person takes 2,000 steps to walk 1 mile, so if the treadmill hits 1.5 miles distance you are probably close to your 3,000 step goal.0
