Hi there!! I’m Debra...I’ve been doing MyFitnessPal for approximately a month now. I did lose like 3 lbs but seems like I have plateaued!! I have been following the diet to a tee...even eating less than the recommended amount where it won’t even provide a weight loss prognosis. I have been exercising. I only lost 2 ounces this past week!! Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do?
Thanks so much for all your help!!

First of all, weight loss is not necessarily linear. You can go for a bit without seeing a drop and then BOOM there it is.
Secondly, what are your stats? Height, current weight, goal weight, age etc.
Thirdly, why are you trying to eat less than 1000 calories a day (so little that it won't give a predictor)? That will not help you long term.3 -
Hi Debra...from another Debra. What is your age, height and weight...and how many calories are you eating a day? Are you weighing and logging ALL of your food? If you are eating less than the plan allows, you are not following the plan to a tee. 2 ounces is not problematic and definitely not a plateau. A plateau is weeks with no change. It's normal to have weeks where your weight loss stalls. Stick with it, log everything and you should see the scale move again.

Thanks for the response!! I am 56 yrs old. I am 5’2”...weighing right now at 195.6. Wanting to get down to 125 or 130 lbs. My calorie intake is set to 1290 calories which I find hard to get in at times. I was actually doing better when I wasn’t weighing all my food like I do now. I have been faithfully weighing and logging every single thing for at least the past week...yet I gained 2 ounces? I’m getting really frustrated at this point! I actually lost like 3.5 lbs when I wasn’t weighing my food...just logging it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks so much!!

Did MFP assign you 1290? According to your stats, you could eat 1450 calories a day and should lose about one pound a week. You should avoid eating less than 1200 - it is unhealthy and unnecessary. Again, gaining 2 ounces is really not a concern. Weight fluctuations are completely normal. You've only been at this for a month. I would wager a bet that it took you quite a while to gain the weight you have. It will take time to lose it too. Have patience. You should continue to see results. An app like happy scale might help you as well since you can see your weight loss trend over time which is more accurate for your true progress.2 -
I see the “disagree” warriors are out today. If someone disagrees, feel free to explain what you disagree with otherwise I have to assume it was an accident and meant to be an “insightful” or a “hug”.1

Yes...MyFitnessPal alotted me the 1290 calories. Seems like I guess I will have to at least eat that!!
I mean like I’ve been eating like 4oz of chicken Marsala or Chicken francaise along with 1/2 cup brown rice for dinner. Should I eat like 6-8 oz of chicken and maybe 3/4 cup of brown rice? What do you think?
Thanks so much!!

Can you open up your food diary? Seeing what you’re eating in an entire day would be helpful.

What did you set for your "rate of loss"?0

Okay...I’ve opened my diary so you all may be able to see what I’m doing wrong.
At least I think I did...I went under settings and made my diary public?
Let me know what you all think!!
Thanks so much!!

I took a look at your diary. Are you really logging every single thing you are eating? I ask because one day you only logged a subway sandwich, one cup of cottage cheese and some raspberries. Also, the chicken marsala you eat...did you create a recipe using exactly the weights of the ingredients or use a general listing you found in the data base? In order for you to get a true understanding of your calorie intake and your nutrition, log EVERYTHING. From what I see, you are not eating enough. One day you ate less than 900 calories if what you recorded is correct. That can lead to serious problems. You can eat food, more of it and still lose the weight. What kind of job do you do? What did you put as your weight loss goals, one or two pounds a week?0

I put 1 pound a week to loose in the settings
Going to try and create recipes.0 -

I recommend you look at some websites like eating well or eat this much for ideas on meal plans. You can eat very well and still maintain a deficit. (Personally, if I were you I would eat closer to 1400 calories a day but to stay near what MFP gave you, we'll assume you stay at 1300. Here is a sample menu for a 1300 calorie day. https://www.eatthismuch.com/diet-plan/1300-calorie/0 -

Hi Deb!
The only advice I give you is eat enough calories to satisfy you nutrition for your overall health. Eating to little you will look for more trouble than it's worth. I had weightloss surgery Oct2018. I weighed my highest 256. I lost 30 pounds on here over 6 months preparation by modifying my diet and macros. I also exercised 5x week and weighed and portioned my food before and after surgery. I lost over 120 pounds and now considered underweight at 116 pounds 5ft2 frame. I was literally obsessed about this app and found out that eating 1500 calories daily was doing more harm than good. I just left here for 2 months and stopped using my Fitbit to c if I could gain on my own. My metabolism sped up and still losing without trying. If you send me a friend request you can see all my progress photos and what my diary looks like. Now i am trying to gain like 30 pounds to avoid a feeding tube. I will motivate and cheer you on daily ! I have alot of friends on here! Be kind to your body!
