How much protein are you aiming for, and how much are you falling short by? Any limitations on types of protein you eat?

Hey. Protein can come from multiple sources. Perfectly possible to eat high protein and eat healthy. If packing on muscle mass is your goal you'll want to eat high calories and high protein but healthy nutritionally dense foods.

Feel free to hit me up if you want some.more detailed advice. :)

chicken, quorn, salmon, tuna, greek yoghurts, eggs, protein shakes & bars are all sources of protein. pick what you have a preference for and pack it in to your day :)

I predict this thread will be useful:

    http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10247171/carbs-and-fats-are-cheap-heres-a-guide-to-getting-your-proteins-worth-fiber-also

It links to a spreadsheet that lists many, many foods in order by protein efficiency, i.e., most protein for fewest calories. (If you're vegetarian/vegan, scroll past the mostly meaty/fishy things near the top of the spreadsheet, and you'll find plant sources further down the list.)

IMO, most of us will do fine with 0.6-0.8g protein daily per pound of a healthy goal weight, which is an approximation for 0.8-1g per pound of lean body mass (since most of us don't have an accurate idea of our LBM). Individual circumstances will make for different research-based recommendations. This is a good consumer-friendly rundown of the recent research, from a source generally regarded as both science-based and neutral:

They even have a nifty little calculator now:
