I always think, "A Diet Coke sounds lovely with lunch!"

... and I grab a Diet Coke from the office fridge, and I have about four sips of it, and then I just get bored with it. It's like I just want to TASTE the Diet Coke, but I really don't need to drink a whole can. Every time I decide to have one with lunch, I end up pouring out at least half at the end of the day.

No real point to this thread, just sharing what goes through my mind on any given Thursday.

I find this post offensive to the Diet Coke cans who have not fulfilled their destiny. Reported.

I told myself a beer would be fantastic the other night, and decided to splurge and crack one open in the middle of the week. I switched back to water after a couple drinks. It didn't feel like it was worth the calories.

I've been the same way lately...i go to the cafeteria and grab a diet pepsi for dinner and i take like 3-4 sips and then end up never finishing it...hehe! it's a good thing!
  • I get cravings every so often for soda, but then I drink it and the carbonation gives me the worst stomachache. Now I just stay away from it altogether.

Diet drinks cause cancer. Why have them in your fridge at all? Dieting opens the door to conscious wellness eating. Diet coke/pepsi has no place in a wellness diet.

Now somebody made the joke that wasted Diet Coke was offensive...but something about wasted beer really is offensive and sad to me, think I'm gonna cry now.

I drink diet pepsi up to 12oz a day. You don't wanna drink a liter or count it as water but a small amount won't hurt you.
  • whenever I have a craving for diet coke I just open one and dump it over my head. .I guess it's just the sound of the diet coke can being opened and poured is what I crave.

Posting medical information without peer-reviewed references causes cancer.

I absolutely feel this way about Pepsi (not diet). I really, really want one sometimes! So I figure it into my calories, cringe at the sugar, and snap one open. That sound of a can opening, the cool feel of the aluminum, and first fizzly sip, awesome.

The 3rd sip? Sugar.. sugar, more sugar. Tongue starts to feel weird, overload on sugar. I end up getting a glass of water to help finish my meal with. And yep, either pour out the Pepsi or leave it to get flat and taste bad the next day when I have 3 more sips.

That's offensive to beer drinkers. If I could just have a beer with my lunch, that's what I'd do. Always worth the calories in my book.

And as for having the Cokes in the fridge 1] it's the communal office fridge and that's what is stocked, and 2] Cancer cannot bully me in to refusing to drink something.

Not sure if you pay attention to Bethenny and her Skinny Girl books, but she has a rule that the first few bites/drinks of something taste the best and once it stops tasting good, stop wasting your calories on it. Not the diet pepsi has any calories to waste, but you're prcticing that principle lol!

I had a regular coke during our 7 hour drive on Sunday... paired with a chicken sandwich from Wendy's. I haven't had a coke or fast food in like 8 months, I felt like total crap for about 5 hours afterword. My digestive system was NOT HAPPY. It will probably be another 8 months before I think a coke and fast food sandwich is a good idea again. LOL

Oh, now that I've read this fully, LOL. Diet Coke/Pepsi may have no place in YOUR wellness diet, but everything has a place in my wellness diet.

You should really just force yourself to drink the entire bottle or can. Really how else are you going to log "a few sips."

I never drink more than half a can either but sometimes I just want to have it. It's rare though.
  • I've read many articles about how diet soda is horrible for you. It may give you cancer, but you know what else is bad for your health? Being fat. I love carbonation, and I love diet soda.

What doesn't give you cancer nowadays?

You can get cancer from just about anything. Trying to completely eliminate elements of your life that pose a health risk will leave you in a bubble. Probably not so much, you may get cancer from whatever the bubble is made of.

As many things, moderation. I allow myself one caffienated drink in the morning. I may be coffee or a diet coke or a diet dr peppper. The rest of the day is water for me.
