I'm going to be in Atlanta for work next week and my hotel has an agreement with one of the clubs there "for a nominal fee," so I figured while I'm paying I might as find a good gym that comes recommended. I do prefer group fitness classes, but they aren't a necessity.

  • Depends on where you are staying in Atlanta. The LA Fitness in Midtown has zumba classes that are awesome!

Agree with chiroGirl....it depends on where you're staying. The southside of Atlanta isn't the best...stay toward midtown and the Alpharetta area and you'll find great places. I personally haven't used a gym that has group fitness as I only go for weights. I've been in a Ballys, LA Fitness, and American Bodyworks all in the Alpharetta area and they've been nice. Also...if you travel a lot you may want to look into joining Golds...they offer membership to any gym country wide and the fee is always the same no matter where you are.
  • I am thinking you will be downtown. You will only be a few miles from the Midtown LA Fitness (it is by Georgia Tech). This guy Reggie teaches there on Tuesday and Thursday nights. It is a little more hip hop then latin but the Zumba class is great!!

thanks, ladies!! It looks like that's about 2 miles away from the hotel, so maybe . . . just maybe I can steal the car from my boss and get to a class!
  • You can walk!! Hehe! It should not be that far! Maybe I will see you at the Thursday class!! :)

This was my first thought "oh, it's only 2 miles, that gives me a 4 mile run and a class" and then my next thought was "but how safe is it?" Oh, and if I am there you'll know it's me. I'll be the one in the corner with 2 left feet.

Apparently there used to be a Gold's Gym by the Hard Rock Cafe (which is only about a block or 2 from where I'm staying) but I can't find it in the Gold's database, just in the Les Mills database and on Google.
