Balancing calories...

The other day I was over my calories by about 100cals but by the time I got home I was shattered and it was too late to really start any exercise to burn it off. The next day I was about 100cals under.
Just wanting to know everyone's opinions on balancing calories. Do you think it balances out if you aren't over for the week?
I'm not talking about not eating for two days so you can pig out one or anything like that, just if you are over or under by a wee bit throughout the week.

I keep an excel spreadsheet and pay more attention to my weekly average than daily totals.
And 100 calories doesn't mean a thing . Don't beat yourself up.0 -
i dont think 100 calories means squat...dont obsess like that...its not good for you and will only make you go mental (i know from experience)0

When I can not eat all of my exercise calories on one day, I eat them the next day, or over the next couple of days. It all balances out. Because I am on maintenance, if I do not eat them back, I lose more weight, which I can not afford to do.0

Yes, I do think it balances out. At least is has for me.0

you can balance it out over time but I heard that you should never carry over for more than a week if that makes sense.
But worry about it when it's a 500 calorie difference, not just a hundred!0 -
I've heard of people zig-zagging calories to end up with a weekly anverage, i.e. eating 1700 one day, 1200 the next, etc. so it balances to say 1500 for the week. 100 cals is definitely no big deal!0

I think it does balance out, and remember that if even if you are "over" 100 calories, it does not mean you actually ate more than you burned that day- you're still about 400 cals under because of the way MFP is set up for you to lose.0

I do this too. I concentrate on my weekly goal and don't worry too much on a daily basis.0
