So yeah... I am going to be the big 3-0 next month. October 23rd to be exact. It's kind of hitting me. I know that maybe some of you reading this are past this age, but when you encountered it did it make you kind of nervous.

Well, really, I know age is a number..blah blah..

But something about 30 sounds so "grown up" to me. I have been married over 7 years, have an almost 2 year old son, own a home...etc...but still feel like a 'little girl" at times.

I'm not upset about the age, just feel it should be some sort of milestone? I know.. I sound strange... *sigh...

Share your 30's stories....or if you are approaching just like me.... how do you feel about it?

I was excited to turn 30 (in May) because I got to say I was in the best shape of my life! Like you, I got married young, had kids young, etc. Now, I actually feel like an adult and people take me seriously. For some reason if I had a 2 in front of my age people thought I was a child and didn't know what I was doing! Enjoy you're 30s, they're great!
  • I love being in my 30s absolute best time of my life so far. :)

30 didn't bother me, but 32 just about did me in. I guess I'm just slow, but it wasn't until then that I realized "I'm IN my 30's" I'll be turning 50 in 2 weeks and it sounds a whole lot older than I feel. I'm not crazy about the sound of 50, but I keep reminding myself that it beats the alternative. Life is great no matter what age or stage you are in. Enjoy it all!

I know how you feel... I turn 30 in December. But "they" do say that 30 is the new 20 so I'm going to go with that attitude, even though I'm not really excited for it.

it's really not as bad as it sounds. I'm 44 and have three kids in college and to be honest, I love life more now than I ever have. My advice to you is to enjoy life as you go.

i will be 29 for the rest of my life...
i turned 30 last October. When i turned 25 i thought i would have life figured out and my *kitten* together by time i turned 30. ya that didn't happen. i sat in shock for a few days and just kept thinking over and over...OMFG I'm 30, my life is over. it gets better-don't fret. we only have one life to live so wake up each day and give it your all. No regrets! You have accomplished a lot in a short time. be proud of what you have. i know a lot of people that are older than us that can't say the same.
And i might have my *kitten* figured out by time I turn 40? And i can date guys that are 38 and 39 without it sounding so creepy ;)

I set it off when I got close to 30. I went back and got my degree, dumped my fiance, and lived as fearlessly as I could. I actually felt like a grown woman for the first time, and not a sheltered one. I've loved my 30s more than any other time in my life. I've done so many awesome things since I turned 30 that I wouldn't have done before.

Ill be 29 in 9 days...as for next year I don't know,it doesn't bother me to say I'm almost 30...and um yea when the hell do you start feeling like a grown~up!? Sereously I could not be more grown up but I feel like a kid still...except when I catch myself roling my eyes at teenagers lmao

I turned 30 on august 12. I had mixed emotions because I have been married 11 years (tomorrow) and have no kids. So I truly still feel like a kid!! But after thinking about it for a while I realized, I am much wiser than I was and I deserve 30. I also am in the best shape of my life and feel amazing and am comfortable in my own skin which comes with age. So I love 30 so far! I hear its the best decade for women

When I turned 30 I was becoming a dad for number 2 daughter, and had been married 8 years. Now she's 20. If I remember right I had let myself go a little (story of my life) and got in shape that year. Ironically, when I turned 31 I was probably in the best shape of my life. But back then I focused on my career; I lived in southern California, and was pretty selfish. Now I see that. I wish I would have been a better dad and husband. Funny how guys grow up so late; at least that was me.
I was a bodybuilder type back then. Used to enter into arm wrestling comps, and could bench 340 lbs, twice my weight (170).
Another lesson there is life changes. In my 50's I think about keeping fit and low body fat and less about being muscular. My career is more about getting my company's goals accomplished rather than how I can advance.
And I've been divorced for 6 years now I think.
    So 30. You're still a Baby.
By the way, my grandfather is still going strong. He thinks I'm just a baby. He drives, lives on his own, he's a hardcore Juicer (juice machine, not 'roids). And got a great, dry, sarcastic wit. He doesn't tell jokes, he improvises in conversations. Not like most old people. He's 95.
Age IS just a number, like you said.

Can I say some of the cool things I did after I turned 30?
Thanks! (lol like there's really a choice)

    - learned to shoot a handgun (properly)
    - cleansed my aura on the beach with a "famous" (in his own mind) motivational speaker
    - camped on the beach
    - scored a cool camping spot for free in the Keys
    - skinny dipped in the Keys in broad daylight
    - skinny dipped in the ocean at night
    - drank moonshine with total strangers and true-life rednecks
    - road down to Key West on a motorcycle and "stole" amenities while I was there...twice - once during Fantasy Fest.
    - learned to kayak
    - started gardening and composting, all while having no yard
