Hi, I am 60 and have MS but I am still walking and doing pretty good. I recently moved & there are no gyms up here in the mountains of NH. I am currently trying the Keto plan. I have been on it for almost a month and the scale hasn't moved. What diets have worked for you? I need to get back into my clothes. I'm sick of wearing sweats! Thank you for any advice..

Are you making sure you are maintaining a calorie deficit? That's the only way to lose weight.

Are you counting calories whilst you're doing Keto?
Some of the Ketovangelists would have you believe you can eat as much as you want on Keto and still lose weight, but it doesn't work that way.
Fat is higher calorie than Carbs or Protein so if you're not accurately logging your calorie intake it's easy to overeat.

You have Nature's gym right out your door. You're lucky. I lost most of my weight just with doing outdoor walks and a little in-the-house body weight exercises.
It's all about creating a calorie deficit. Keto not necessary unless you prefer that way of eating. I would just say, make sure you're getting enough of the important nutrients in vegetables, too. They do have carbs, so some people just figure, "Hey I'm on keto, don't need vegetables." No!4 -

I am 55. I have lost 19 pounds eating less calories than my body burned, going from a tight size eight to a size 4. I tracked those calories using MFP and a kitchen scale measuring in grams. I have continued to eat the same foods I ate before, just a little less of everything. The only change I made was increasing protein a bit, which, for me, makes me feel less hungry. (For others, it might be fat, carbs, fiber, or food volume that works for feeling full.)
I have painful joints and connective tissue, so my exercise is almost completely walking and my exercise calories are tracked using a Fitbit. It doesn't have to be complicated.
Good luck!5 -

If only I could climb them. During spring & Summer we do some flat trails but in the dead of winter there's no hiking for me.

Most weight loss is done by eating less calories. Exercise can give you a few extra calories but if your health stops you from doing anything strenuous then do what you can. I lost 108 pounds and all I ever did was walk and count calories. I slowly changed my diet and slowly started walking daily. If you have access to a pool that can be an option. Find something you LIKE to do and do it. I'm just now starting weight lifting after 2 years of maintenance. Keto isn't magic despite the fact that everyone says it is. What you need to do to lose weight is find things you can change in your life that you can do forever. If you can give up carbs the rest of your life then Keto is worth considering. The reason for this is that if you can't stay Keto for life you will eventually fall back into old habits because you won't have learned anything new. You will eventually gain back any weight you lost. The reason Keto is so popular is because of the water loss in the first few weeks. It tends to make it appear you have lost alot more fat than you actually have. Some folks find that they lose their appetite eventually so they no longer struggle with eating less. It doesn't sound like that is the case with you. Why not start keeping track of your calories and see how much you are really eating then start cutting back. Take your time you don't have to lose 2 lbs a week. Even at half a pound a week you would be down 26 pounds by this time next year!
