What kinds of jobs have you had in your lifetime; what work do you do now; do you like what you do or have done?

I never went to college. Most of my jobs have been minimum wage type jobs. :/ I started out working in a glove factory, then went to the hospital kitchen and learned pretty much every job there from pot scrubber to baker to cafeteria to cook, went to an electrical parts factory(ugh, hate factory work), chambermaid, retail, but my longest running job was 39 years of operating an in-home childcare. I finally found my niche, where I was happy, plus it was nice being my own boss as opposed to working for someone else. Retired last May and am grateful for that as well. :)

So, if you'd like to, please share your work experiences. :)

Easier to list. These are both volunteer and paid positions (volunteer work is just as demanding as paid for work, sometimes):
    • Nude art model - 4 years
    • Clerk for a hotel on a college campus
    • Night shift security for a college campus
    • Cat brusher at an animal shelter
    • Le sandwich artiste
    • Illustrator (current official title, although I work for myself)
    • Committee chair for a Cub Scout pack
    • Craftsperson (I get paid more for this than I do for drawing/painting)

1st job was when I was 16. I washed and waxed private planes with a friend, in our bikinis. Never acts loss for customers.
I've also worked at a lumberyard, driving a forklift, waitress, then found my calling in hospitality working on hotels. Retired after selling my small mountainside hotel with fine dining restaurant. I have been blessed in that area if my life, but have always been a hard worker.

    - babysitter (late nights, but it bought me a car at 16)
    - Arby's drive thru girl (on lunch break in high school - arranged classes around it) (payed for gas and insurance on car)
    - convenience store clerk (random people are fun!)
    - hotel, front desk and housekeeping (liked housekeeping - bit ocd and liked working on my own and listening to music)
    - grocery store cashier (enjoyed inter-store drama!)
    - benefits administration for an electrical union (good pay, ridiculously good pay and short hours)
    - web design (loved, but people stressed me out when they didn't know what they wanted - and then wanted me to change stuff (like wtf - I asked you), + going live gave me tension headaches)
    - veterinary assistant (love the chaos and getting payed to pet and gush over cute animals - plus it's never a predictable day, and I learn new stuff all the time)
    - pet/house sitter (good pay, little work, and like a 'mini' vacation...you're not home, so you don't have to deal with your "home" stuff)

not opposed to a "next"...I want some more experiences!

I've had three sales jobs in my lifetime, including stints at supervisory or management level
    1982 to 1987
    1987 to 2011
    2011 to 2020 and counting

No, I do not like sales. Not a people person. Just can't seem to get out of sales. Probably too old to learn anything new now.

Gypsy in a haunted house sounds so fun to me!

When asked what I wanted to be as a kid it was
    "Gypsy, vagrant princess"
    ...still aspire to too!!

I have hated every last one of them but I'd go back to hair if my liscence wasn't expired; for the money. I'm more mature now to care about being a pharmacy Technician and actually learn something. I'll never be a cashier again. I'll never be unemployed for a lengthy time again. Try to figure out how to get out of retail and into a job where I don't just wish the hours of my life away.
