For me, eating better isn't from motivation but from routine. It's not that you WANT to do this, it's just something that you do. After about 21 days a habit turns more into a routine, so that generally helps.
I've fallen off the wagon plenty. In 2012 I lost 60lbs and gained all of it back and more since. Now I'm 50lbs down from the new starting point and still have more than that to go. Ask yourself why you want to eat better and why you want to stop smoking.
Search out like-minded people either among friends, at work, or online who have the same goals.3 -
I agree with the idea of it needing to become a routine. There are plenty of days when I don't feel motivated, yet I still log everything I eat, stick to my calorie goal,...
Have you asked yourself why you couldn't stick with it? I have no idea what "eating well" means for you, but a lot of people have a tendency to be too restrictive (in quantity and/or what foods are 'allowed'), which then backfires because it's not sustainable. I've lost 25 lbs so far by eating basically the same foods as I did before, just smaller quantities and sometimes finding lower calorie alternatives.
So when you decide to 'eat well', are those choices you can see yourself following for the rest of your life? If not, you might need to adapt your plan.
It also helps to make changes gradually instead of a radical overhaul.2 -
Planning and routine. There are degrees of detail you can get to, but a meal plan and setting aside time to shop for that and just that is a good start. If you shop once a week, do a week at a time. If you're able to top up supplies more often, do 3-4 days.0

If eating "well" is eliminating all the things you really enjoy eating then you may always find this hard. I should know. I failed A LOT doing just that. Now I eat food I enjoy and treats that I feel comfortable moderating.
My basic rule of thumb is that you don't always have to love what you do to lose weight but you can't always hate it.
Your weight will fluctuate up and down. That is what your body does. It sucks but this article may help explain it to you:
