Breakfast Smoothie

Currently, breakfast consists of 3 fried eggs and 3 strips of low sodium bacon and a 16.9 bottle of water. I was thinking of switching to a "weight loss" breakfast smoothie that would consist of black beans, flaxseeds, cinnamon, ginger, spinach, blueberries, strawberries, coconut oil, and oats. Would this be a good alternative as well as effective for weight loss? I wouldn't be overdoing vitamins and whatnot? I already know about calorie deficits and proper dieting combined with plenty of exercise producing weight loss. Thanks.

    Weight loss is about calories, so neither meal is inherently effective for weight loss. Does the smoothie sound like it would be satisfying and filling for the cals? Would you enjoy it? Would you miss the current breakfast? Is your current breakfast an appropriate number of cals and sufficiently filling? For health reasons, are your micros on point? If you wanted to add some micros to the breakfast but stick basically to the current one, you could have one fewer egg and some fruit and veg on the side.

    I like smoothies (by which I mean I enjoy them for breakfast, I also enjoy eggs and veg), personally would have a different mix of ingredients (I do have some of the ones you mention) but that's me. The ingredients you mention could add up to pretty high cals pretty quick, depending on amounts. Some find smoothies not as filling because you drink them.

    I see, thanks for your input. We'll see. I lost the weight i had due to major calorie deficit, about 400 calories a day. Thankfully no side effexts such as fatigue or lightheaded, etc. I'm also taking CLAs now everyday.

    Most people wouldn't consider 400 calories a "major" deficit.

    I make different smoothies most days. Your smoothie sounds fine, but will likely look like concrete slurry.

    I always add nutmeg if I include greens.

    i drink smoothies with about 80% greens (kale, spinach, cilantro, parsley, chard, and then i add some berries and/or a banana and then water. no milk, juice or sugar. i also add chia seeds, sliced almonds etc if i want it to have a little protein. i also try to drink at least two-three glasses water with lemon as soon as i wake up because i know my body needs water early in the morning.

    How many calories in your smoothie? Seems like it would be high in calories and carbs, and low in protein for the calories.

    Your current breakfast sounds very low carb, which plenty of people like, but I would personally add some carbs.

    I'll go back to smoothies when it gets warmer; scrambled eggs with veggies and toast is one of my winter breakfasts:
