I am looking to make this threads focus on helping members who's profession is law enforcement, firefighting or military. I am looking to help answer questions and give advise on training, preparing, performing better in your jobs as first responders. Weather it be police academy, CPAT testing, ACFT, MCFT, Navy PRT, or other physical fitness testing outcomes you seek to pass, or even your own fitness goals within your respective professional domain, please list it here and I will do my best to help out.

I am a TSAC-F with the NSCA (see link) and have worked with the US Navy for 5 years. I also worked with USAF special operations unit for 1 year in Italy. I have helped small groups of local PD and FD with physical fitness and wellness program development as well. I now seek ways to keep helping these brave men and women of the forces and services. This is may way of doing so.

Please keep your questions geared toward the fitness, exercise and training side of things.

Thanks for your service to this special group. Im no in it but interested in fitness. What are your thoughts on odd object training (sand bags, etc) and loaded carries, weighted vests for this group and general population?

if it helps them reach their goals better and they enjoy doing it then yes i say go for it all. i have used some or all of them in the groups i work with pending the persons needs and readiness. none of them are needed to see results but they can be great alternatives for sure when a workout gets into a rut.

That's awesome of you to offer to help.
I'm currently a volunteer firefighter/ EMT with a local department, I spent several seasons working on a federal wildland fire crew. After quitting that the desk job really caught up with me, slowly working on getting back into the shape I was then. I completed the CPAT with a career department during that time but decided it wasnt the route I wanted with my life at the time, mainly because my significant other at the time wasn't supportive. But I want to be back in that shape again.

I assume now you have more support or less obstacles from others to pursue this career goal yes? Are you now seeking more personal fitness goals and being in shape for yourself?
