A bike of anykind, if you are sore you can still sit down and get a good burn from it and its easy on the knees0
-
A squat rack with an Oly bar and the plates to go with it0
-
we added rowing machine and elliptical.0

Elliptical!
After we got our weight set, it was the first thing I went shopping for (used $20).0 -
First choice, more kettlebells so that I could do 2 arm exercises and exercises with heavier weights. Second choice, elliptical because I like the workout.0

I should have said we have those too, Trek Multitrack. I'm trying to prepare for the winter when we can't bike in 2 feet of snow!0 -
Probably the elliptical. My very fit neighbors have a recumbent bike and tell me it hurts their knees and they hate it. Plus, it has a very large footprint, as big as a TM.0

I'd go with the elliptical. Easy on the knees, and a little upper body if you want.0

My inlaws picked up an elliptical at a yardsale and brought it for our home gym. I was completely blahh about it. Then I tried it and I'm on every day! LOVE IT. We do a 20 minute treadmill, 20 minute bike, 20 minute elliptical, 10 minute rowing. No way I could stay on a whole hour but to get a good workout we need one hour for sure. We normally trail walk 1 hour a day but in the winter we will use the equipment. It's just too much snow and too cold here.0

A dream piece of equipment would be a Yoga Swing. Let me preface by saying I'm not a yogi, nor limber, nor slim, but that thing makes me want to climb like the tomboy little girl that I used to be. There was a video online about yoga hammocks (coccooning) a few weeks ago that started my obssession. I want one!!!!! Wah!!!!!!
As for a recumbent, I've owned a Schwinn for over 10 years and it's never hurt my knees at all. My booty, yes, as it gets tired, but it's easy on the knees. I wonder why the neighbors in the above post have painful knees? Maybe too high a resistance? I run mine at level 3 for about 45 minutes and get a good sweat going, but no pain.
One of our local fitness gurus, Larry North, said on his radio show (a long time ago) that he loved the recumbent because you use your big muscles and you're not stressing your back. I would have to agree.
Now, to save money for a Yoga Swing!!!!0 -
elliptical! love it and easy on the knees0

What I have:
Nordic Track ski machine
recumbant bike
mini-trampoline
weight bench
What I would add:
elliptical
treadmill
I mostly want/need a treadmill, so you already have what I would add!0 -
Just looking at your stats....WOW! Congratulations. I'm gonna saunter over and see if you'll add me as a friend. Fantastic work! And an enviable gym too!0
