Can I do weights if I'm still a bit sore?

Lifted on Friday. I went a little too heavy with leg stuff, and today I feel great, but the top of my left thigh is still a little sore. Should I do weights again anyway? Should I just go lighter?

Yep. My sore muscles usually feel better after a workout. I wouldn't go as heavy as possible, personally.5

Yes you can.
You might benefit from increasing your warmup and decreasing your intensity while you are sore.3 -
Sure. Soreness is normal.
Lighter? That depends on your intensity, volume, load management, etc...
I would certainly lift what is dosed in your programming if it doesn't cause you to overshoot the stimulus.1 -
If in doubt just train another part of your body0

I once listened to my body; it didn't end well.2 -

I’m 59 years old and working out 5-6 times a week. I hate the 1-2 days off because The soreness gets worse. For me, the movement makes it better. Even body weight stuff helps.
So, for example- if you did weighted squats and your quads or glutes hurt- do some air squats in addition to dynamic stretching.1 -
When I am extra sore, I just work out a different body part. Walking, a light bike ride or a super light mini workout help the soreness in my legs.1
