I hit onderland in may i was so excited!! i had promised myself to never go back again. But here i am sitting her at 213lbs. And i dont know how the f*** i got here again. Its like i dont care but i do. Everyday im say ok im gonna start tomorrow im going to start tomorrow but i havent been able too. All i want is to get back to onderland lol i was there but i sabotaged myself. I just dont get it. I really need help or else its all going to come back. What keeps you motivated please share, and if you have ever gone off track what helped you get back on?

  • Im hoping ths helps me get motivated! I am like you, saying "I'll start tomorrow" then tomorrow turns into a couple days, then etc etc.
As a student I find it REALLY hard to stay on track because of all the party social situations I find myself in! I try to be conscience but I usually dont as the people around me are clearly not.

Just check in with us when youre feeling you need a boost! And youll find increasingly if you say no here and there to that cookie or extra piece of pizza, youll feel great about yourself that you id and itll happen more and more and become easier to do so!

I find that here is great motivation in itself. I use cardio trainer on my phone to log my walks/runs etc and that really helps me as it shows how farI have travelled in total. Small steps, small goals and rewards. I buy myself a lipstick or nail colour if I have a good week, nothing extravagent! If it all goes wrong and I pig out, well tomorrow is another day. Keep going, you will get there in the end.

Instead of saying that you just want to get back to onderland---which what may happen is that you will feel you have conquered your goal, which will then turn you to go back to your old hbaits---you can say you want to accomplish complete and total health, which means reaching a desired weight, say, 160 or whatever-in order to accomplish that. Focus on health and not diet because diets begin and end.

    Good luck

I hate to say it folks, but you need to start today. Kick your bum into gear and do it. Lots of small steps make big differences. You know you can do it, you've done it before. Its important to remember that. There's no point beating yourself up for letting it slip, it happens to us all. You're gonna have good periods and bad periods. Just concentrate on having increasingly more good than bad! Most importantly, believe in yourself! Good luck. :)
  • i just logged back in for the first time in a while as well. recently moved to a new area and am finding it hard to reach out and head to the gym.

but here we are! all hoping someone or something will help us get back on track!
WE CAN DO IT, WE WILL DO IT!
  • I've found that I've fallen off the wagon a few times. I'll do really well for a few months and then hit a wall and struggle to get back to the motivated place!

I normally find that looking at photos of myself when I was slimmed compared to now usually give me the kick I need or making the effort to go for a short walk or swim - it's usually the tiny bit of a start I need to get going again.

I also write lists of all the good things that come with being slimmer which helps. I think the best thing is to not beat yourself up over going off course for a while because that only makes you feel worse and if you're anything like me, that just makes me want to eat!!

If you need any support, feel free to add me. Start small and build on your successes!

I've been having a problem staying motivated. But I AM starting over today!! We can do this!
  • I hear you. I was doing so well, then went on vaca for the month of July. Really remote camping, no wifi, no phone signal, etc. On top of that we had a car wreck on the way home and now my shoulder is messed up, so I'm afraid to go back to the gym. Instead I finally started just logging in food. I'm not as religious at it as I was B4, but as the day's go by I'm getting better. I like the phone app. The vaca weight came off quicker than I thought it would, and this week I'm actually down a pound or two!

So just start logging on everytimg you think about MFP, etc. Instead of beating yourself up, congratulate yourself for logging on! And that's the beginning of getting back on track!
    good luck!

I had a terrible terrible fall from "the wagon" about the same time. Was doing so well from Christmas until late April, and then the end of the semester got my schedule all messed up and stressed out [I'm a college instructor], and the switch to my summer research project messed up my exercise access, and I had more excuses than inspirations, and managed to gain 15 lbs over the summer. That on top of the 15 that had crept on over the past year put me back in the terrible twos again.

What really got me back on track was separate conversations with two relatively new colleagues who I discovered had lost 120 lbs and 50 lbs respectively. Telling them about my success in losing 70 lbs 5 years ago and then having to admit to gaining 40 of that back really gave me the smack between the eyes that I needed to get back on track.

My affirmation for the time being are:
    * the rest of my life starts RIGHT NOW. . . and I get to make good choices starting NOW
    * the past is prologue and not the epilogue, so I still get to write the story NOW ; and
    * the more mistakes I make, the more I get to learn from them!

Here's to jumping back on the wagon!

Don't start tomorrow. Start NOW. This second! Why wait till tomorrow?
