I've walked over 70,000 steps in a day and nothing much happened really, except that I was really tired by the end of the day. However, I was wearing supportive shoes and socks and my fitness was already high so was prepared. Unlike this guy though, I was walking outside rather than on a treadmill which is exactly the same movement over and over again so I am sure that helped.10

did 40000 in a day, shin splints from hell.....

I did over 40,000 exploring Boston a few years ago. The only issue I had were giant blisters on both feet 😮4

Personal record is a little over 28k steps in about four hours. Went through about two litres of water during, and another four throughout the rest of the day, and pretty sure I had a focal seizure during the last half hour. Surprisingly the only pain was the usual muscle exhaustion I get at work. Want to hit 50k this speing when the snow and puddles are gone, but doibt I’ll push past that.3

I’ve hit 45,000 but never 50,000.4

Most Ive done is a lil over 30k steps in a day2
-
You cover a lot of distance?
I've done 70k in a two day / through the night hike. What happened? Encountered a night goat. Watched the sky brighten up before the sun rise. Saw a lot of natural beauty.15 -
Is a night goat different from a day goat?12

That's like 45-50 miles. How do you do that in a day?0

He says in the beginning of the video that he is used to walking, but he seemed a bit unprepared, to be honest. My daily average is 11k steps, outside, and I never had the blisters and bruises he had at his first stop. I never had to change socks. I don't wear any special fancy shoewear, just regular sneakers (which I probably shouldn't, dunno). My PR is 32k steps. By then I start to get a bit sore, but that's it.
I probably wouldn't attempt 100k, though. It sounds excessive to me.4 -

I too am very curious what a night goat is.6 -

Mountain goats typically sleep at night and do goaty things by day. We were almost finished with our hike at about 4 am, and a goat was standing in the trail foraging. My friends were afraid to go near it, we were all exhausted though and this goat was blocking our way. They tried yelling and waving arms, the goat just looked at us. I walked toward it, we were at some distance but when we moved in its direction it wandered off into the woods.
TL;DR a night goat is a guardian of the trail.19 -

Heather "Anish" Anderson hiked the 2,660 mile Pacific Crest Trail in just under 2 months. That's an average of about 45 miles a day. Every day. Really steep miles.9 -
I've done 50,000 a few times on longer hikes. Nothing much happened, other than tiredness and hunger.
Doing longer on a treadmill sounds like hell, but each to their own, I guess.5 -
Every time I visit London I do about 20-30km per day. My steps are small (I’m not tall) and guess it’s around 30-40k steps. No problem.3

Marvel Studios was going to release their first Night Goat feature film this year, but it's rumored to be delayed indefinitely for extensive script rewrites.5

(I was just logging Saturday's walk, but didn't bother changing the date so pardon my messy editing tools).
I did it in my down at heel Saucony Redeemers that I ditched for new Brooks Arial 20s on the 15th. Just a little tired that evening.

I've reached 100k steps in a day just once. That was on a day I did a difficult 50M race, which included 1000+ "floors" worth of ascent/decent (11,000+ ft of each) on the course. Estimated about half of those steps were running, the rest were power hiking the uphills.
Other than the 5 blisters on my right foot, actually felt pretty good. Legs were tired but not beat. Went out on my bike at a nice easy recovery effort the next day and an easy run the day after that. I was trained for it though...9 -

For your entertainment Ongoing (for years) Fitbit community thread exploring whether it's possible to average 80000 steps a day. It's long, rambling, in places rude and an excellent read while you're cooped up at home pondering such random questions!2 -
I was at 29,000 after working out today I decided to get my next Fitbit badge at 35,000, my legs feel like they're going to fall off at this point!1

The dude's ankles were bleeding after 9,700 steps? Doesn't sound like he was really well-prepared.
I've done about 40,000 on long hikes. Don't think I'd enjoy 100,000.7 -

I agree with everyone else that said that this guy didn't seem to be prepared for someone who was already getting in 25k steps a day. Why would you just randomly decide to quadruple your steps with no gradual increase? That's a great way to get injured, even just walking.
I hit 55k steps once when I ran a Disney half marathon in the early morning, followed by a full day of walking around Disney. My legs and feet hurt by the end of the day (no blisters), but I was trained, napped after the half, and swapped shoes.1 -
Iv done 30,000 in 5 hours while working nights at a stud farm. I have arthritis so I was near crawling by the end from sore knees and pelvis but if I had taken pain relief I would have been fine.0

Thanks a lot, now that song is stuck in my head.
Da da da (da da da)
Da da da (da da da)
Da da da dun diddle un diddle un diddle uh da
It has replaced my earlier earworm “My Corona” (a Covid19 take on My Sharona). 😂
On topic though, my longest walking attempts have always been thwarted by blisters forming, I’ve yet to find the perfect shoe/sock combo. Pre-taping healthy blister prone areas helps somewhat. If I could figure that out I think I could double my personal best since it wasn’t my legs or body that gave out, just my skin.3 -
My little brother bought a CD with this on. He hated every other song on the album, so took it back to the shop. The shop let him swap it for "Straight outta Compton" by NWA. The assistant said: "You mistook the Proclaimers for NWA? We get this all the time."
For young people: CDs are an old-fashioned way of playing music. We used to buy them in physical shops.2 -
Both of my 50k race days yielded 75k+ steps. I was tired and hungry.3
-
I've walked 26.2 miles twice but not back to back0
