Circuit training question

So, Thursday and Friday of this past week I decided to change things up with my exercise and instead of using the weight machines for 45-60 minutes I used the 30 minute circuit training area instead. Burnt a hell of a lot more in calories and sweated my *kitten* off in 30 minutes vs. just 45-60 minutes of very light sweat.

My question is, would you guys recommend alternating the circuit training every other time I go with the weights or should I continue doing it daily (I also use the arc trainer for 60 minutes at the gym each time I go, which is 5 days a week).

Any suggestions on what to do with the steppers too? I do the high knee lifts, I do the step up and down alternating my legs, I cross the high knee lift against the opposite elbow and that's it. I know there are other variations that I can do but can't think of anything creative. Thoughts? Suggestions?

    I think mixing it up would keep things interesting for you. As for the benefits, I don't really know, I'm no expert ;)
    You could ask the trainers at the gym for tips, they'd know more than many people here :)

    Anything you can do to mix it up will help from getting "muscle memory". You don't even have to mix it up every other day. You can do something for a week, then change it up. If you keep doing the same thing over and over, your body will adapt and get very efficient at doing that and therefore reduce calories burned and results.

    If you like doing the weight machines, and/or can't get to the circuit training area, you can also mix up the speed and weight at which you do the reps. Instead of doing 50 reps with 10lbs and going fast. Try doing 25 with 15lbs and going much slower. (Just as an example).

    When I was going to the gym I was doing a 30 minute circuit followed by 30 minutes of straight cardio 2-3 times a week and alternated with days of 60 minutes of cardio. I saw great results. I gained strength and definitely burned fat.

    Whatever you decide to do, just make sure you switch your routine up every 6 weeks or so. Even a two week change from your normal routine will keep your body from getting used to your workout.
